Check this out for an ending game: Alyx reckless ans desperate to save her father is discovered by the combine and is captured by the advisors for intelligence about the GMan. Gordon and Eli hearing about this from the vortagaunts immediately plan how they’re going to save Alyx and Barney links up with the rest of the rest of the resistance. Feeling like they have no choice both Gordon and Barney set out assaulting several combine outpost trying to get a fix on Alyx’s location. They learn of a massive combine base that is said to contain lots of intel on operations and other bases. They decide to infiltrate this base and they split off with Gordon leading an assault with a team of resistance on one end and Barney leading a team along with dog on the other end in order to fully sweep the base. Gordon makes it to the main hq offices of the facility and takes out all the combine but Barney over the radio sounds like he’s in trouble so Gordon checks the camera feeds and sees dog and Barney’s team are wiped out. Barney still left alive is capture by the combine with dog’s remains being taken away for study and Gordon races to where they are at. On the way Gordon takes out all the combine moving towards his position and sees a dropship with Barney inside fly off. Gordon looks through the combine computers finding where they take their prisoners to and discovers that the combine have been building a new main base. Instead of leading a team of rebels to their deaths on a suicide mission in order to solely rescue two resistance members, Gordon surrenders himself to the combine and is taken to their new base because little did he know the combine wanted him to surrender because he had intel on the Gman and capturing Barney was a way to lure him in. After being stripped of everything including his HEV suit and Gravity Gun, Gordon was imprisoned for further intel extraction by the combine. Out of ideas Gordon team up with some captured rebels and vortagaunts to break out. They successfully break out and free all other captured allies leading to a riot. Gordon links up with Barney again and they go look for Alyx. They discover she is deep in the main torture chamber so they fight their way down they to get here out. Seeing Alyx nearly on the verge of death they pick her up and give her a weapon to then fight their way back out. She informs them the combine have a captured resistance local tele-porter they could use get back to the resistance base. They fight their way to the labs and clear out all combine forces. There they see all captured resistance tech that the combine had tried to reverse engineer in order to make their own weapons. They fire up the resistance local tele-porter but then Gordon is shot in the lower right abdomen by an oncoming combine soldier. They quickly seal the doors shut. Knowing that the tele-porter can only hold two people and Gordon is shot and is bleeding to death and the combine about to breach the doors he has Alyx and Barney get on the tele-porter which is set to self destruct after they are ported away. Barney and Alyx say their final goodbye to Gordon as he watches them get sent way. Instead of gearing up for a fight Gordon knowing he has only seconds left simply walks down the lab of captured gear and sees the gravity gun, he flicks the dial and couple times sees that its still working he walks over to a table picks up his crowbar looks down at it and smiles he then walks over to his HEV suit and instead of putting it on he puts his hand on it gently, with hardly any life left he falls down his bloody hand running down the HEV suit leaving 3 strips of blood. The combine now having breached the room close in on his position as see Gordons body with a slight smile in his face died knowing he had saved is friends.

Someone on another video said that because Gordon unintentionally trails death, destruction and chaos wherever he goes, that if HL3 was ever made and the story got a proper conclusion, it would either have to end with Gordon dying or vanishing altogether. Kinda makes you think.
