Blues “improv” on public piano
Просмотров 2212 года назад
I’ve been trying to branch out and learn how to do some piano improvisation. This is some blues improv in C major that I played on the public piano in downtown Blacksburg, VA. It’s not entirely improvised since I always end up inadvertently playing the same tag over and over again whenever I sit down to play. Hope you enjoy. theater piano @sam_george_riddle @bwayoveranalyzed

Do you have the sheet music? All the ones online are different and this seems a lot closer to the original version.
🎼 " LYRICS " 🎼 By Lin-Manuel Mirand How does a bastard, orphan, son of a whore And a Scotsman, dropped in the middle of a forgotten spot In the Caribbean by providence impoverished In squalor, grow up to be a hero and a scholar? The ten-dollar founding father without a father Got a lot farther by working a lot harder By being a lot smarter By being a self-starter By fourteen, they placed him in charge of a trading charter And every day while slaves were being slaughtered and carted away Across the waves, he struggled and kept his guard up Inside, he was longing for something to be a part of The brother was ready to beg, steal, borrow, or barter Then a hurricane came, and devastation reigned Our man saw his future drip, dripping down the drain Put a pencil to his temple, connected it to his brain And he wrote his first refrain, a testament to his pain Well, the word got around, they said, this kid is insane, man Took up a collection just to send him to the mainland Get your education, don't forget from whence you came And the world is gonna know your name What's your name, man? Alexander Hamilton My name is Alexander Hamilton And there's a million things I haven't done But just you wait, just you wait When he was ten his father split, full of it, debt-ridden Two years later, see Alex and his mother bed-ridden Half-dead sittin' in their own sick, the scent thick And Alex got better but his mother went quick Moved in with a cousin, the cousin committed suicide Left him with nothin' but ruined pride, something new inside A voice saying, "Alex, you gotta fend for yourself" He started retreatin' and readin' every treatise on the shelf There would have been nothin' left to do for someone less astute He woulda been dead or destitute without a cent of restitution Started workin', clerkin' for his late mother's landlord Tradin' sugar cane and rum and all the things he can't afford Scammin' for every book he can get his hands on Plannin' for the future see him now as he stands on The bow of a ship headed for the new land In New York you can be a new man In New York you can be a new man (just you wait) In New York you can be a new man (just you wait) In New York you can be a new man In New York, New York Just you wait Alexander Hamilton Alexander Hamilton We are waiting in the wings for you Waiting in the wings for you You could never back down You never learned to take your time Oh, Alexander Hamilton Alexander Hamilton When America sings for you Will they know what you overcame? Will they know you rewrote your game? The world will never be the same, oh The ship is in the harbor now See if you can spot him (just you wait) Another immigrant comin' up from the bottom (just you wait) His enemies destroyed his rep America forgot him We, fought with him Me, I died for him Me, I trusted him Me, I loved him And me, I'm the damn fool that shot him (shot him, shot him) There's a million things I haven't done But just you wait What's your name, man? And in my twisted face There's not the slightest trace Of anything that even hints of kindness And from my tortured shape No comfort, no escape I see, but deep within is utter blindness Hopeless As my dream dies As the time flies Love a lost illusion Helpless Unforgiven Cold and driven To this sad conclusion No beauty could move me No goodness improve me No power on earth, if I can't love her No passion could reach me No lesson could teach me How I could have love her and made her love me too If I can't love her, then who? Long ago I should have seen All the things I could have been Careless and unthinking, I moved onward No pain could be deeper No life could be cheaper No point anymore, if I can't love her No spirit could win me No hope left within me Hope I could have loved her and that she'd set me free But it's not to be If I can't love her Let the world be done with me.
Lift up your head, wash off your mascara Here, take my Kleenex, wipe that lipstick away Show me your face clean as the mornin' I know things were bad but now they're okay Suddenly Seymour is standing beside you You don't need no makeup, Don't have to pretend Suddenly Seymour, is here to provide you With sweet understanding, Seymour's your friend Nobody ever treated me kindly Daddy left early, mamma was poor I'd meet a man and I'd follow him blindly He'd snap his fingers me I'd say, "Sure" Suddenly, Seymour is standing beside me He don't give me orders, he don't condescend Suddenly, Seymour is here to provide me Sweet understanding, Seymour's my friend Tell me this feeling lasts till forever Tell me the bad times are clean washed away Please understand that it's still strange and frightening Both losers like I've been it's so hard to say Suddenly, Seymour (Suddenly, Seymour) He purified me (He purified you) Suddenly, Seymour (Suddenly, Seymour) Showed me I can (Yes, you can) Learn how to be more The girl that's inside me (The girl that's inside you) With sweet understanding (With sweet understanding) With sweet understanding (With sweet understanding) Seymour is my man (Seymour is your man)

Many backs have broken from lesser weight I know I was born to carry more than I can hold Even though I’ll stumble Even though I’ll fall You’ll never see me crumble You’ll never see me crawl If you knew my story Drew water from the well If you knew my story You’d have a good story to tell Me I’m not alone Tell me I’m not alone Even though I’ll stumble Even though I’ll fall You’ll never see me crumble You’ll never see me crawl If you knew my story
