Marcelito Pomoy had a rough childhood and is self-taught, not professionally trained. At the time this was recorded - live and sitting down - he spoke neither English nor Italian. I’ve learned from other comments that in his native Philippines there is a tradition of men singing in two voices, so this would not be as surprising there, though surely his level of skill and the beauty of both his voices would be. I’ve seen a subset of professional critics and performers claim he’s “only a mimic” and nothing special. My answer to them is, how are those sour grapes tasting? The gesture he does after he finishes singing was a joke. He said he was spitting out Celine Dion.
