    Hey, this video is really great ! I'll share it with my classmates later, but I still have one question : what is the difference between an upper or lower indices ? I know that it has to do with covariant and controvariant quantities but I still have trouble understanding what it means in the world of physics. Does anyone have any explaination or know where I could learn about it ?

    This explanation is something else. I'm studying Physics in Nepal, where we're often left to figure things out on our own. The education system here doesn't always support us the way we'd hope, so we turn to videos like this to keep our dreams alive. I’ve always dreamed of doing a Ph.D. in Physics, even though opportunities from a country like mine are so limited. This video touched my heart and gave me hope. Thank you, and sending lots of love from Nepal!

    It is far easier to understand in geometric algebra notation. Only two multivectors, one for electromagnetic field, the other one for charge, 2 constats, c and ε0, and only one differential operator - gradient. grad(F) = J * constants (I don't remember exactly how constants contribute, in my note the equation written in natural units, all the constants equal to one) For more info check «Swift introduction to geometric algebra» on RUclips.

    Here you "derive" the EM field tensor from the scalar and 3-vector potentials which together constitute a 4-vector potential. But why not first define the EM field tensor from the definitions of the E and B fields? dp/dt = qE + qv × B and dW/dt = qE⋅v ?

    • @ReumiChannel
      @ReumiChannel 3 месяца назад

      Cuz i thought this is what most people would want to know. If you already know how to explain that, you should make one about it! :) But I think that is a separate topic.

      It means it's tensor can be represented by numbers along 1D, it's rank being 1 is nothing to do with its dimensions, tensor of rano 1 will stay tensor of rank one in 10D space

    Thanks I was just searching for this. Im guessing gravitational waves also have retarded potential, I wonder in a 2 body system of masses , if the current direction of force vector points at the previous point or not. from wikipedia on Retarded Potential "As in the case of the Liénard-Wiechert potentials for electromagnetic effects and waves, the static potentials from a moving gravitational mass (i.e., its simple gravitational field, also known as gravitostatic field) are "updated," so that they point to the mass's actual position at constant velocity, with no retardation effects. This happens also for static electric and magnetic effects and is required by Lorentz symmetry, since any mass or charge moving with constant velocity at a great distance, could be replaced by a moving observer at the same distance, with the object now at "rest." In this latter case, the static gravitational field seen by the observer would be required to point to the same position, which is the non-retarded position of the object (mass). Only gravitational waves, caused by acceleration of a mass, and which cannot be removed by a change in a distant observer's inertial frame, must be subject to aberration, and thus originate from a retarded position and direction, due to their finite velocity of travel from their source. Such waves correspond to electromagnetic waves radiated from an accelerated charge." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retarded_position , doesnt make much sense to me ..
