How to bend a ridge cap for a metal roof like a professional
I’ve seen a lot of people post videos on metal roofing 90% of them make me laugh but here I show you how to bend a ridge cap perfectly and is very aesthetically pleasing .

I installed your caps on my 5V roof almost 2 years ago and they look perfect. The only modifications I made to your method was to make the vertical fold 3/4" to match the height of the ribs on the 5V roofing. Yesterday, I did the same for the 5V on our 100 year old neighborhood clubhouse.
It would be nice if you explained what you were doing, what the different measurements and marks were.
it is explained
Thanks for the video.... installing the hip cap right now... just needed a solid idea ..
Muy Bueno!
Nice job
I'm putting on my hip ridge cap now, and I'm not a roofer, but for the life of me I could not find a video that explained how to fold the ends. THIS was the only video I was able to find and it was clear as day. Thank you so much for uploading it! You helped me a ton! Much appreciated.
I'm Glad it helped and I hope you love the outcome.
Thanks so much, this guy looks he does really experience.
“Professional” in who’s opinion?
Looks professionally done to me... and 600 other people that liked the video
This man's an artist.
@@Liberty_Tree you damn right
Gracias por compartirnos buena enseñanza amigo saludos🙋🏽♂️
Do you know how to bend a cap for a pyramid hip roof?
It’s the same as this

I think maybe this guy has done this before? Yea he has done this before....
Hey, really nice demo!
Gracias cabron me salvaste de una
Eres de Houston bro

How do u make hip cap run into gable rake. How do u cut that? Nobody makes videos of that
There is a video that shows exactly how it's done. Keep searching.
I wish I had seen this a week earlier! I'm off to order a new ridge cap to replace the one I butchered. LOL
Looks great. I think it would be hard to do with thicker gauge Metal. I will definitely use this thanks
This is the thickest gauge metal we work with, its commercial grade steel . Super thick not sure what gauge .
Watched this a hundred times last night....till I got the sense of it. I think ive got it now. I shudder to think how my hip caps would have turned out if it wasnt for your great video....thanks , Lisa
Very nice, I normally don't bend the second leg under but I may have to start now
It looks way better with that extra step and slides under the drip edge
uff so clean ..
Thanks for the GREAT no nonsense video. After quite a bit of trial and error I came up with a very similar method for the same type of cap for my 5V crimp hip roof, but your method is easier/faster and looks just as good. Now I'm trying to figure out how to cut and fold of the same kind of cap at the intersection between two hips and a ridge. Hoping to find a video to speed up the process. Any ideas?
Just another question.sorry if I've been rude but why fold the bottom of the ridge under the sheets? I thought folding it down let's the water drip off?
I do this om the roof
I'm drunk mate and a bored roofer so sorry for my comments sorry
Why not fold the sides down at the same time
huh
This is funny
I no this is a tutorial. But no actual comment as it offends people.
Tab Under. Not tab over. Rivet the bend down to the tab under.
True. This is a self taught method from trial and error. Thanks
@@Mikemetalroofingself taught wrong. So fricken tired of the “self taught” excuse. Ask someone who knows, huh? How about that?
@@r.w.fields Im sorry learning something without being taught really offended you . you sound miserable
@@r.w.fieldsgo to sleep if you're "so freaking tired".
Great video. Much easier than the method I’ve been using. What was the pitch of the roof and do the measurements change with the pitch?
The first measure will vary depend on pitch. This roof was a 6 i believe. To get the first measure is very easy just line up the ridge cap uncut and mark both sides at the drip edge if that makes sense.
No change in pitch he just used a set square tomarka 45 then muck around after that.
I didn't realise sorry a 45 degree cut changes on a pitch at a ridge capping... I always thought it was 45 to square without worrying about the pitch factor 🤔
@@Quigz1983 I guess your a professional lol we didn’t go to a school to learn how to roof if you know everything wtf you doing looking this up lol
