What takes 4 spotters, 4 radios, a peanut gallery, and half an hour? Getting the Unimog through the tightest spot on the White Rim Trail, Canyonlands National Park.

Folding a CVT Mt Shasta Extended Tent with Annex Attached
I'm not sure what you're you're shasta model is but my used one that I just bought is a 2016. To my understanding you have to remove the cover in order to slide the annex in and have it attached to the bottom of the tent base. Are you just not attaching that part so that you can close it up?
The newer pioneer series (that I just got) include a second rail so both can be attached at the same time. You might be able to retrofit a second rail on yours.
Good driving....it's a lot worse in person...and 10 min down the road is a great place to camp.
This camera angle is perfect. It's hard to capture on video how steep it really is.
Thanks!
When you buy this tent does it come with that anex or is that a separate purchase?
Yes, it did come with the annex included! It also has a floor for the annex, but we don't use it.
@@historyinthewild great thank you!

Nice work! Smooth as butter.
Woot woot! Very skilled driving!
Thank you for this video. So many people have said that keeping the annex attached cannot be done. your video very clearly proves them wrong. Yes, the cover will be tight, but you show that it does work. I assume that the setup is simply the reverse? any other "tricks" I need to know? I will be installing my brand new CVT onto my overland trailer in the next month or so. Need to build the custom rack first. But it is winter here in New England, so I have time. I will be trying out keeping the annex attached in the very first trip. Thank you again for your extremely helpful video.
We're glad this was helpful for you! When you unfold, remember that you need to be inside the annex "tunnel" to extend the ladder. Be careful that the feet of your ladder (ours have some sharpish edges) don't damage the screen material of the annex door when you extend it. But that's about it. Pretty darn easy!
@@historyinthewild - I will definitely be experimenting with keeping the annex attached. your advice is valuable. I am not a youtube video guy myself, but I may try to post pictures on the overland forum (or somewhere) in the spring. RTT people seem to whine a lot about attaching the annex and the extra time. but maybe they have not set up a 10x10 canvas ground tent (30-45+min? with TWO people) lately to compare????? Zipping on the annex does take maybe 10-15 minutes? and you have helped show that deploying the attached annex could be 1-2 minutes extra? very nice!
Looks good!
Ken Potter Thanks!
