Whenever i've had a dead battery, (in freezing cold temps) which hasn't been that often in over 5 decades of driving btw, the AAA auto club guy's who jump started my dead car battery have always told me to DRIVE the car for at least 30 minutes to charge it up fully. They've all told me that just letting it sit there and idle, without driving it, won't charge it up enough, and it's NOT effective, because the alternator won't work as well at charging the battery back up fully.
