Are you using any filters or video lights?

@@mangocovescuba for the night dive im sure ill have a light or two, im attaching it to my mask and only using the underwater housing.

@@TMS519 For the night dive, the lights are going to do a decent job of illuminating whatever it is you are looking at so the camera should get decent footage. I would set for the highest resolution you can process (either 1080, 2.7k, or 4k), with a high bitrate, and native white balance. The camera has a tendency to try and overcorrect for white balance underwater and it's not gonna look great, especially for your night dive. If it's exceptionally sunny with great visibility you may want to dial down the exposure compensation to -0.5 or -1.0. Depending on location, without filters, right out of the camera, your footage is going to look very blue so some color correction in post is necessary to get rid of that. Although, blue is what we see underwater :)

I haven't shot with the Canon - but I will say there are a couple things to consider when buying a travel camera... 1 - Budget 2 - Image Quality 3 - Size of Camera 4 - Ease of Use For the money I think the GoPro Hero9 checks all those boxes for $350 (with GoPro Plus) Thanks for watching!

@@sawla.d.foundation Do you plan to take it underwater or just shoot topside? Are you mostly doing selfie-style travel vlogging? Or do you anticipate doing shots while in motion? I would personally stick with the GoPro - At $349 you'll have enough leftover for accessories like extra batteries, mods, etc, and I think the GoPro far exceed "good enough" for creating travel content. shukri Nordin yes - to 33 ft

Anything shot topside is direct from the camera. I had GoPro color mode set, auto white balance, min/max ISO 100-400 respectively. -1 Exposure. Anything shot underwater, the only correction I made was to account for the fact I set auto white balance and the GoPro has a hard time dealing with keeping up with the white balance - especially in shallow water when the streams of light are quickly altering reference whites. @@mangocovescuba Ok. Cool. Hard to tell what the real footage is of cameras with people color correcting all the footage. I appreciate the raw footage. Just ordered the Hero 9 as a first time GoPro user. Lol. Great, simple video!!

@@cBelowH2O Almost every underwater video you see is almost certainly color corrected on RUclips - there's just too much variation in the conditions to not do it. That being said getting the best shot in camera is always the best. Check out @MicBergsma for the absolute best GoPro tutorial vids on RUclips - he's a legend!

@@mangocovescuba I could see that. Ive played around with color correction, however trying to stick to the basics for now. Lol. And thanks, will check him out.

Once I can get my hands on the housing I will definitely take it on a deeper dive. My assumption is it will perform even better than any previous GoPro. More Pixels = More Light that can be captured. For deeper dives anything WA is going to benefit from some red filters, so waiting for that Flip9 to drop as well!

@@mangocovescuba that would be true if the sensor size changed as well but it didn't, unfortunately. MicBergsma did some comparison between Heros 7, 8 and 9 and the 9 seems to have trouble keeping up with the 8. I'm hoping that won't translate too much into deeper water dives during the day.

@@xineissm Ya - I didn't realize the sensor size hadn't changed, was hoping with the larger camera body it had. I watched MicBergsma's comparison and it's definitely a stark comparison! With any kind of deeper dives though, I'm bringing video lights so this isn't going to be an issue anyway. Will hopefully get some wide angle wreck shots up soon!
