Morpheus has become a favorite solo work for me when I'm free to program new music with old. Rouse skillfully weaves his original music into the Bach Sarabande from the D minor Suite for Unaccompanied Cello. His evocation of sleep, and the twilight between waking and sleep, entrances me. This 2003 performance of mine, from memory, was on a series of new music in Santa Barbara, California.

My dear old friend, this was my first hearing of this recording. What a fabulous job performing this endearing, yet deceptively difficult piece! Dear Virginia & Steve, Your Como una Fantasia performance/RUclips video/masterpiece is absolutely so epic that I had to look up synonyms for "epic", which include heroic, classic, larger-than-life, impressive, ambitious, and grand!!!! So, "epic" seems to sum it up quite well! (All that, and beautiful, creative, and mesmerizing as well!!) I can only imagine all the hours of arranging, practicing, coming up with the "vision" of such a work, selecting travel scene segments, editing, costuming, somehow incorporating 3 Virginias ethereally into the scenes (both visually and aurally), recording-until-it-came-out-just-right, (which was probably the first cut!)...OH MY!! What a beautiful masterpiece, with the typical hilarious introduction:) You guys have outdone yourselves this time! You're both amazing! I'd better stop before I run out of adjectives... Thanks so much for sharing this! Love you both!!
