Huge deer seen near my house - Is it a Red?
I spotted this deer a couple of nights ago at an undisclosed location and it is way bigger than the normal Roe Deer I regularly see when I'm out.
It was sitting down in a sheep field when I first saw it then when it stood up it towered over the sheep.
As I'm on the Northumberland / Durham border it's well South of areas where Red Deer are normally associated with so if you've any ideas please share in the comment section - thanks in advance.
*I muted the video as I did some swearing when it stood up*

      That thing is a monster. I'll stick to bikes which are legal to ride on UK roads and a standard mountain bike for off-road since my wife would go mad if I got arrested for anything and to be fair I have to carry a bike up steps to store it. With the Fiido Titan I'd have to start going to the gym again just to lift it.

      It was round about this time of year (early to mid September). The Summer was very dry then there was a lot of rain for a couple of days - that's what caused such a number of fungi to pop up. It's been similar this year with regard to the dry Summer but the ground is still dry so there are limited amounts of fungi. I was out a couple of days ago and found only 1 Porcini but there were loads of Hedgehog fungi out - I could have filled a basket with them easily. Hopefully after the rain we've had and the rain we should be getting this week there will be a decent flush of fungi in the next few days (in my area).

      (my other channel) That's really early considering that the Summer has been so dry - thanks for the report. In my area there hasn't been a flush of Ceps yet although the last few days have had some limited rain. Today I went out and found one decent Cep and lots of Hedgehog fungus in a big ring. I left most of the Hedgehogs since I already have a nation of them dried. Hopefully this day of rain will bring the Ceps up but even late in the day I was moving some deep leaf litter and it was still dry. We really need a day or two of heavy rain.

    I don't understand how this can be legal in the uk with a 350w motor and a throttle? The maximum output must be 250w by law and throttles that can propel without pedalling are illegal. Is this a legal ebike or not?

    • @ThousandYardStare
      @ThousandYardStare 22 дня назад

      I was confused about the output when I made this video as their website said the motor was 500W, then that was later changed to 350W but that is 'peak output' with the motor definitely being rated at 250W - it has 250W stamped on the hub of the motor so is the same as other UK road legal e-bikes as far as motor output goes. With regard to throttle that does not have to be fitted and the maximum speed is set at 15.5mph which also brings it in line with other road legal e-bikes. It is user choice to fit the throttle or increase the maximum speed. Hope that helps. I'd imagine that police in cities would be vigilant with checking e-bikes to see if they were 'legal' or not since there isn't anything more important going on in the world.....

It is comfortable to carry as a backpack and is a perfect car fridge since it can be powered from the cigarette lighter socket (it uses very little power). Everything I have reviewed from Litheli is great quality so I have no problem recommending everything I've reviewed - links to previous reviews are above. Yes, I know that I pronounce 'Litheli' different in this video compared to my previous videos - that is because I had a .wav file sent to me from Litheli which had a guy pronouncing the name properly - hopefully I got somewhere close, lol. Seriously though, Litheli aren't messing around with their products - they are proper quality at an affordable price. When I took the FrozenPack on a recent trip to Scotland I used it as a freezer on the way up there and as a fridge on the way back - both scenarios worked perfectly. Everything which was frozen remained frozen on the way up (and could be put into our cottage freezer) and everything which was refrigerated remained refrigerated (on the way back) with the cans of drink being icy cold without being frozen. Next year I have a week long holiday booked with my brother and some friends to the Isle of Skye and I am already safe in the knowledge that I will be the hero for providing cold beers for the fishing trips. You said in another comment that there are two types of “wild/woodland/alpine strawberries”, one that does not produce runners and fruits for much longer than the other. Apparently the type that I have is the one that fruits for a short period and sends out a ton of runners. Do you still think it is worth it to grow? Or should I just try to get the type that fruits for much longer and forget the one that I have? Do they taste the same or any of them is better than the other? Thank you in advance.

    • @ThousandYardStare
      @ThousandYardStare Месяц назад

      They taste the same but the Alpine strawberries (which I'm sitting next to at the start of the video) get much bigger fruits and produce crops for much longer. The smaller common wild strawberry plants have a short season since they seem to use their energy to produce a nation of runners which is great if you want lots of plants but not so good if you want lots of fruit. Therefore I'd say that the Alpine strawberries were the best bet if you want better quality fruit and a longer harvesting season. As long as they are divided every 3-4 years they will produce a nation of fruit and they frequently grow from seed around the parent plants.

    • @TiagoSilva-lk7hk
      @TiagoSilva-lk7hk Месяц назад

      Thank you so much! I just purchased some alpine strawberry seeds today. I couldn’t find any mature plants for sale, so I had to buy seeds. It’s a variety called “Rugen”, that’s what the label says, but I don’t think that matters that much, most varieties of alpine strawberries are probably very similar. It will take some time and patience to grow them but I’m sure the effort will be worth it. Thank you for your help and hope you have good harvests.

    I'm on almost 600 miles now, I love the bike. I think your pedal and headset may have been a factory issue as I've had zero issues. Aside from being on the second set of brake pads, something I think they should probably look into. I might look into the basket, I have a bag on the front but the basket looks pretty durable and smart on it. Hope the ribs have healed ok now.

    • @ThousandYardStare
      @ThousandYardStare Месяц назад

      I'm glad you like the bike. Yes, the headset and pedal are fine now that they've been tightened up but the pads are getting very low. The wear on the pads is probably due to the weight of the bike since it takes some slowing down when going down steep hills (due to the weight of the bike). The front basket weighs close to 3kg so it's not a lightweight option but it is extremely strong - I use it for foreign parcels when I ride to the local Post Office if there is something which can't be collected by Royal Mail. I think my miles are around 370 but I use this bike and my mountain bike for different rides. I wish my mountain bike went as fast up the hills as the electric bike and I wish the electric bike was as light as my mountain bike but neither of those things are going to happen, lol

    • @ThousandYardStare
      @ThousandYardStare Месяц назад

      Yes you can cut into your hands if you pull a fish in just using the line but only when the line is quite thin - that's why most people use 10lb-12lb line (or even heavier) on these types of reels. For the fish I target the line needs to be thinner since they will be able to see it.

    That's interesting, I noticed that as far as the AA holders go, those holders seem to be linked so you could lose 2 if one went bad? I'm never buying throw away batteries again, high amp rechargeable is my way forward. Still need one of those solar big charge packs as well, but they are £££

    • @pondguru
      @pondguru Месяц назад

      All the holders are separate and they will only go bad if they get wet or touch contacts together. Yes, rechargeable batteries are great - I have them in another box, lol As far as charging packs for batteries go I got one with one of the metal detectors I bought years ago - it charges 8 AA at a time so is very handy.

    • @pondguru
      @pondguru Месяц назад

      Sorry, I've just realized what you meant when you said the holders were linked. They are in two's but the batteries are kept far enough apart that there's no chance of them touching unless there is a huge furring mess bursting from the corrupted battery. I hope you're keeping well, man.

      I generally use an unweighted worm if bait fishing - that will cast approx. 10m (33 feet) easily but further if an E-Z Trout Float is also used - they are very good, in all my kits and can be found here: geni.us/U7xkguZ If using a small spinner as shown in this video I can throw that over 20 metres (80+ feet).

As a gift idea it is very good and it is genuinely well made. Since it is sold on Amazon the price will probably fluctuate so it's worth keeping an eye on it if you're interested. I use a plug in on my browser called 'camelcamelcamel' which tracks the prices of anything on Amazon - it's free and shows historical prices for anything I'm interested in. I simply set a price alert then get an email when the price drops to what I'm willing to pay. It's a great thing to just set and forget.

      Yes, currently being sold just under £70 and it is excellent. I've just made a review video of another Litheli product which we took on holiday up to Scotland. It's a backpack fridge / freezer which can be set from +20C -to -20C and uses the same battery shown in this video. We used it as a freezer all the way up to our self catering cottage then used it as a fridge on the way back for cheese, meat, bottles of wine etc. It got the seal of approval from my wife so all is good. Everything I've featured from Litheli has been excellent quality and a reasonable price.

Added to that it is pure quality. It has permanent residence in my cycling backpack so I can take a break when I'm way up in the hills, have a quick brew and start pedaling again with renewed enthusiasm. Apologies to OutIn for taking so long with the review but with something so compact and technical I had to charge / discharge / store / check for loss of stored battery power ...... and make PLENTY of brews since my viewers would never forgive me if I didn't continue to recommend products they need in their life. I'm pleased to say it performed perfectly and I can recommend it 100% - it's a real game changer for me. My wife loves this espresso machine too and that is the greatest seal of approval anyone could wish for since she thinks I have way too many 'gadgets'... Thanks for watching and check out my other videos for reviews of more quality products. I do not get paid to feature / review any products on either of my RUclips channels and I only show products that I genuinely use myself. OutIn on Instagram: @outin.inc.official.
