Better deep analyze the CR data. There are only two models, with the same engines that CR rated from Subaru (definitely a very good brand, but not over Lexus, Toyota and Mazda, Honda). Moreover, CR is using the "predicted reliability" oxymoron, which is really dumb (only time can prove reliability, not stupid estimates) for statistical purposes (thus not depicting the reality). Given these shortcomings (that are explaining sudden jumps up into Top 10 Reliability by brands of clunkers like Audi, Mini - followed by crashes out of Top 10 Reliability in the next years), I use mathematical methods (like weighted average for the last years) to take out such anomalies and get the correct realibility rankings. That are (not surprising at all) very similar to what CR published as the (true) brands reliability ranking for up to 10-years cars: #1 Lexus (#3 low TCO) #2 Toyota (#1 low TCO) #3 Mazda (#5 low TCO) #4 Acura (#9 low TCO) #5 Honda (#6 low TCO) In Top 10 Reliability by brands there should be only the top Japanese producers plus Porsche and BMW (that unfortunately have a huge TCO). Nissan is out of Top 10 Reliability brands, while Suzuki and Mitsubishi are high up (in Top 10 Reliability) outside North America (where their market presence is quite weak).
