why not just seal it with a waterproof sealant?
Less permanent solution, looks worse, and creates issues long-term. Can also void a warranty on some commercial systems
That may be the worst coating job ive ever seen.
What if there are actual chunks taken out of the tiles?
The #1 cause of broken tiles is foot traffic, #2 is wind driven debris. I'm not saying hail doesn't happen, but extremely rare
Roof company installed look very professional.
one row of fasteners should be as close to the edge as possible to minimize the degree to which the edge is cutting through the material. Also looks like they used uncured- not cured; if so, it is incorrect.
So, what do you recommend instead?
A properly bent Headwall Flashing, bent 5 degrees more than the angle of the roof (usually 110 degrees but varies per slope), fastened with neoprene OR if it's covered headwall than use a pan head screw then adhere the shingles with 6 drops instead of a consistent bead
You've got to be kidding. So they slapped $80 worth of metal on it and they passed it as a new roof? Why?
I've narrowed it to two possibilities: 1. They were paid on an insurance claim so they had to at least pass a permit to get it re-insured/recoverable depreciation. 2. They plan on selling the house nad want to pretend the roof is brand new
oh my god
Yep. That's what I'm finding all the time the last few years. Ever since they replaced the department head I find stuff like this daily.
50% incompetent installer / 50% customer picking the nearly cheapest bid.... both lames
I'm sad to say how far out he is, he probably went with one of the locals rather than getting someone from the city in the same AHJ. Both of the locals in the town are awful
The vents are not mechanically attached
If you mean the curbs, they are fastened into the side of the curb. If you mean the 1-way vents, aka membrane vents, they are not supposed to be.
One thing is very clear. No vertigo issues but never can tempt your luck too far 😊
Eventually it's like second nature.
You wear the tails on the ladder too. But seriously though, what the hell is wrong with pprbd. I always knew it was bad but this is getting ridiculous
You know these companies will put the roof on no matter installer specs for weather
Very true. I've got a video I'm releasing next month (I like to give a 60-90 day delay) of an EPDM roof they ADHERED in below freezing. Not even a year old, and the whole thing is starting to billow.
@@RoofingFacts I got nothing but respect for the roofers that are able to install these roofs fairly quick in varying weather but most are hurried to increase profit where I’m not surprised if you see something off on all the roofs you’ve been on.
How often do you see anyone plate iso correctly?
Once in a blue moon, I'll meet a new contractor who does it right. Literally, it's just under every 3 years. Luckily, some of the locals have been through training or had to face a bad report a couple times and I'm noticing the more I emphasize on it, the closer they get
That's not a downspout it's an overflow 😂 6:57

Holy shit was there a cow following you chewing like crazy?
Really dry climate that day, and I've got a 2 pack a day habit (gum) 🤣
Could you provide the names of the 16 carriers and contact information for each. I'm paying EagleView for the drone each month and all insurance carriers and roofing companies I have marketed my service have rejected using my service. I need to open a door to being hired or close my door.
Lazy cheap ass roofers. They know what they did.
Stop chewing gum it's annoying
man does anyone give a f? …… 🦗
Oooof. That’s some rough work.
Yep. And salt Sadly about average quality for Residential.
Is this review for satellite images only, what about with the Skydio/Eagleview 3D capture? Plus, which insurance companies will accept Eagleview for damage detection and the dimensional data? I have Eagleview Assess/Skydio drone and no roofer, insurance co or claims adjuster is even interested in using it for damage detection or dimensional measurements. I need 10 paying clients a month or I will have to end roofing inspections as one of my services.
This was strictly in regards to measurements. To my knowledge, none of the 16 major carriers will accept any skydio damage reports.
Those roofers should be in jail.
Agreed. Ruined this family's life
@@RoofingFacts 😂
Hello RoofingFacts hello anyway this is indeed very heartwarming and very wonderful and very beautiful and this brings back such great memories of when I use to be a 90s kid and an early 2000s kid and I am a new subscriber as well:).
👍
What happen here. Look like they gave up, quit. I'm really tempted to do it myself.
Roofers came in, did the job at 72mph wind speed requirements in a 110mph area. City claimed they inspected the Microsoft and final. But the flashings were never completed, roof was put on wrong, wrong flashings were used in other places, ventilation wasn't done correct, and it's quite clear the city never actually inspected. A 90mph gust came and devastated the new roof 2 years after construction. That wind should have never had any effect, if @pprbd had ever done its job
This is fake, you will NEVER see plumbing on the roof
Sure thing.
not sure if this is standard practice but the trailer house i live in has a few pipes stickin up through the roof, from my understanding they are something to do with letting low pressure pipes have a atmospheric vent, which allows it to drain? or something?
You are insane
Also, allows sewer gas to escape vs be trapped. Tiolet won't flush w/o vent
@@djaydevedalmost every roof has a “stink pipe” some houses/buildings are different. But you will see one more likely than not.
💪
Your videos are very informative are you an adjuster, appraiser, new building inspector?
I think he said on a different video that he's a third-party consultant, but I remember from some of his oldest videos he used to be and installer and now this is his version of "retirement"
@@stevenbarnes4131 thanks Steve I was always wondering because he seems like a combo of all 😂
I only do personal and friends/family roof work as the insurance is too expensive. But it seems crazy to not hit those holes with sealant. I'm replacing my shingle roof with metal right now and plan to install permanent anchor points.
You should call out the bad roofer if you know. I am sick of service people covering up for each other!.
Sadly on this one, no permit was ever pulled and the company listed on the contract doesn't exist
Of course, by the time water damage is apparent, the shingler or plumber or A/C tech is long gone, but his legacy remains, and the homeowner pays... 👎😰
Bingo.
Ohhh wow!!! 😂
Reason 346 I’m gonna just have to learn to do this if I want a house that lasts more than a year
Interesting. I’ve always had shingles on my home. It looks similar to metal roof install with the wood strips between deck and roof.
This has to be fake because the bullet would not be in that un touched condition if it had been fired(if I am wrong please explain it to me instead of flaming me)
What do you mean by untouched, i dont see the casing
It was most likely shot up into the air and landed there
I've got a few videos of this you can see ok the channel. This commonly occurs from people firing their guns straight up. Asphalt shingles are relatively soft, so the bullets get lodged in the layers.
Ive seen bleeding shingles but never out west. Was a big problem in GA
CertainTeed was really big here in the early to mid 2000s
Everyone involved with that job, from planning to final inspection, needs to be banned from construction
Every shipment of tile ive ever gotten its guaranteed you get a chip like this probably every 50 tiles. And go back 10 years later theres more on the roof. I even write it in my warranties now because every home inspector and drone enthusiast comes back worries about leaks
"Hail damage" At least once every week I get asked to consult on a tile roof with Potential hail. And it's always chatter
"Thats New construction. Thats... new construction" Felt that in my soul.
this is a stray bullet, sometimes people are dumb enough to shoot up in the sky and not think the bullet would fall back down..
Yep. I've been collecting these since around 2003. Used to be a couple a year. Now it's 1-2 a week.
Im used to seeing the houses in the background and going "oh ok makes sense" but wtf that looks like a nice neighborhood
Conservative town with 5 military bases.
Agreed 🤝
Brought to you by little ghetto punks who shouldn't have guns
The hell happend
He lives in the hood
@@Jyxnionsame
@Jyxnion That's a long driveway, nice grass, and I'm about 70% sure i recognize a Mercedes in the background.
@@detumaki That for sure is the suburbs!
People fire guns straight up, and this happens. Shingles are just soft enough to split but the multiple layers end up trapping the bullets. Then I come along and collect because... reasons unknown to even me
I make sure and let my clients know that plumbers are plumbers and roofers are roofers for a reason. I'm not qualified to do their job and they aren't qualified to do mine, so any penetrations though the roof is a roofers job and I'll even give a discount and it won't compromise warranties. Not sure I've commented before, but as a local competitor, enjoy your content. Cheers.
Amen. That's exactly it. There's a reason different trades have different licenses. Too bad pprbd hasn't figured it out yet. Stop sending the same inspector for everything on new construction
Mexicans
Yes, there is a reason 95% of roofers (the ones actually installing the roof) are what you blanketly call Mexicans. It's because 18-30 year old white men are horrible labor workers. Takes 5 times as long and subpar results. Coming from a middle aged white guy, I'll take a Mexicans over a Casper any day of the week and I guarantee better results and no bitiching and moaning all day long.
Racists.
That's a bit racist. Cheapest bidder work
The disappointment in his voice is what got me when he explained the whole situation and that's new construction. I hate new construction, old structural construction was better on some levels, but like he said, that's new construction
I was told that the roof is never checked by pikes peak regional building department on a new construction build. If it's a reroof, they do. (Tho some may argue this as well)
@allaboutroofing2 That is correct! Technically, the roof is required to be checked during new construction. However, rather than sending a roof inspector, they send the "general" inspector, who is there to look at almost every trade. With an emphasis on checking everything, their training and certification process is only about 4% roofing, with over half of that 4% being on safety. Realistically, less than 2% of their training is about roofing, and with so many roofing types that means they barely have the capacity to identify different roof types. Then, they are given an extremely limited amount of time where they're expected to inspect framing, insulation, electrical, etc. So in the end, they have continuously lowered roofing on the priority list to check, and thus we get pprbd failing to inspect a roof for even the most basic codes established when pprbd was formed. This is why my channel constantly features roofs missing felt, installed upsidedown, missing flashings, missing drip edge, etc. Basic stuff you can observe from a ladder. Trying and hoping maybe with enough attention pprbd might finally do the jobs we all pay them to do.
If you carry one of those six in one screwdrivers they make good 1/4 and 5/16 but drivers until you strip them out.
Someone cleaned out my entire bit case before driving out, and I was hours away from a hardware store. It was this or pliers.
