Lovely single sided stater. Found silver ones before but never a gold. Way to go Lisa.

You can’t beat the feel and excitement of finding hammered silver. The Viking piece was interesting and quite a lump. Not been detecting for over 10 years now but watching stuff like this gives me the itch to go out again.

You really need to sift that area because of the flint there, that could hold some dark age stuff along with Saxon treasures, yeah, gold and silver below a foot down. I know it might sound stupid but setting up a small trench about two meters by 1 meter then dig down about 2 foot and sift it with 1/4 in mesh should do it. But thats just what I would do.

to comment for finding stuff on the surface, i did find quite some old copper coins from the 1600 to 1700 on the surface, only once a silver coin, that was big fat silver Spanish real , just lying there on the surface. never found any silver coin on the surface after that but it is amazing when it happens

Just found you guys ,what a cracking day ,id love to find a hammered but not brilliant finds here in wales , wife went with me one time and found a hammered 1st time out i was happy for her and seething at same time i thought it was strange her wanting to come it turns out she bought a copy of one from the local museum as they used to mint them here at Aberystwyth castle, she conned me daughter made her fess up , the bad un really had me going lol. ive liked and subd you Ant .

That coin has lose dirt laying next to it, even has a mud print on the middle of the coin from someone touching it with muddy fingers... if you just found it, it was moved before you picked it up. Freeze the video here (06:04) and you can see what I'm talking about.

My Mums family held Seat in Norfolk in ancient times and she has Blue eyes. I read the Vikings had blue eyes and if your Mum has them it means her ancestors were a victim of RAPE because Celtic people were brown eyed peoples! What do you think about Vikings? I HATE VIKINGS AND MORE NOW THAT I LEARNED HOW MY GRANDMA GOT BLUE EYES FROM THEM AND THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE BROWN!
