Dammit! Wrote out a whole comment and the tune changed so I lost it. Here we go again... Some people accuse this album of being 'boring', but I don't see it that way at all. In fact, I think the tracks are a refreshing departure from the frantic and furious records these legends in the Jungle game were regularly putting out at the time. I would like to know what the meaning behind the title "Westway" is on this track. What comes to mind for me is the Westway dual carriageway in London, which was notorious in the 90s as being a hot-zone for joyriding. I remember watching a documentary about it in period and finding the act being contemptible but alluring at the same time. For a young lad growing up in the middle of the Somerset countryside, the thought of blatting a stolen Sierra Sapphire Cosworth at 130 mph down a deserted stretch of urban highway in the middle of night felt daringly illicit. I can actually picture this track, pumping out the parcel shelf subs, as the theme accompanying a hypnotic lamp post-dotted stretch of highway, soaked in that sulphurous orange glow. God, I love the music and everything around it at this time.
