    This is exactly what I'm trying to do! I've been watching videos on how to make doors and other videos on how to make side yard gate, but non of them was combined as yours. I want to make a side yard gate with deadbolt locks and handles similar to a house door. Thank you for your video sir, I had to watch it again at 0.25 speed to see how you made that frame lol! I wish you had added subtitles for every step you did, but watching it at 0.25 speed explained your steps! You were using clamps to pre-drill the frame, is this step necessary to insure the wood will not crack, or do you think I can get away without them?

    • @JoeMcCoskey
      @JoeMcCoskey 12 дней назад

      Thank you, I did speed it up pretty fast. I pre-drilled pocket holes. You don’t have to use pocket holes. On larger diameter screws it’s a good idea to pre-drill the holes to about or under the smallest diameter of the screw.

    Why did you do the extra horizontal board through the middle?

    • @JoeMcCoskey
      @JoeMcCoskey 22 дня назад

      Structurally it only really needs the top braced one and a bottom one but I went with three horizontal boards on the fence and made the gate to match. (It’s good for limiting the bowing of the pickets.)

      I go back and forth with the stud detector to find the edges of the studs / wood. Left to right for vertical edges and up / down for horizontal edges. The only way to know for sure is to push something through the drywall and see if you encounter resistance on the other side.

    Nice looking fence. Will sag. Guaranteed. I’d put some wheels under the ends for support and pour a concrete path for them. Just noticed this video’s age. RUclips recommended it. Curious to see if it did sag. I’ll try to see if there’s an update

    • @johnyb9884
      @johnyb9884 5 дней назад

      I’m planning similar gate build right now (10-30-24). How do I prevent sag? Strategic cross bracing design? Larger hardware? 6x6 or 8x8 posts? Thanks for your response. DIYer here.

    • @WWNF911
      @WWNF911 4 дня назад

      @johnyb9884 don’t get me wrong. This looks like a great build but there’s a reason why they call it mending fences. Just take great care of it (weather protection) and plan on it. You’re gonna have to go out on occasion and mend fences. Oh and don’t use nails. Use outdoor rated screws definitely.

    Nice video Joe!! Thanks for sharing! In the video from Kohler for the Levity Sliding Glass Door, they indicate that the base needs to be at least 3" wide to mount this door. My walk-in shower is only 2-5/8". Do you think 2-5/8" would be adequate to mount these sliding doors vs the 3" suggested width of the mounting surface. Thanks!

    • @JoeMcCoskey
      @JoeMcCoskey 3 месяца назад

      A color match caulking is a simple option. If you want it fixed like new, you’ll need to remove and replace the tile with the holes in it. There are some good videos on YT about this. Search removing single tile, replace cracked tile.

      It’s not a quick fix and that would make everyone upset but if they drilled the holes in the wrong spot, then they should fix it. It’s very important to make sure your drilling holes in the correct location in tile, since removing and replacing the tiles is a pain. I’d say him and his workers can use it as a learning opportunity. Hopefully it all gets worked out for you.

I’ve got a curly beard too, and I’ve found a Paul Mitchell Detangler comb has really helped. Doesn’t pull AT ALL on hair, even safe to use on wet hair as there is ZERO resistance. Wet hair is more vulnerable so a large tooth comb is best. This one just makes it really nice.

    The manual says that a 3" flat surface, at a minimum, is required. It appears as though this would work fine if it's actually less than 3", as long as there's a gap on either side right?

    • @JoeMcCoskey
      @JoeMcCoskey 4 месяца назад

      The manual wants a 3” flat for the center guide width. I think it should be fine if the center guide hangs over the edge a little. I would just install it with the threshold as far to the outside as possible, this will give the center guide as much room as possible, but it connects to the threshold and can overhang inside the tub a little, if needed.
