The guitar on Abbey Road is one of my favorites on any album I've ever heard. It feels like a fixed character throughout the album, with such a unique language.

When i was younger and played through the face shrine i always thought the music gets louder if you're closer to the boss.

9:54 yesterday I was learning the chords for Reincarnation of a Lovebird by Charles Mingus, got to some spicy G#7b5 and C#7#11 chords and as I was playing with the drop2´s I found that little jingle but in my mind there´s like a melody that goes with it, like a dotted half note and twoeights ascending motif in each bar, then when the arpeggio goes up and instead of a dotted half note it leads into an accented off-beat eight to long note following the same pattern, I dunno, like |A - - Ab A|B - - A Ab|Ab - - Db Db|(Db) - - -| then a whole step down like |G - - Gb G| A - - G Gb| Gb... but I cant find the melody anywhere!

This was awesome. Very well put together and when that payoff hit, I was blown away. I was not expecting that surprise at the end From a music theory and production background it was interesting from the educational aspect, but even thinking about how and why they chose to reuse the song this way, is fascinating in it's own way. this analysis is spot-on and insightful, it's so great to hear someone talk in-depth about the underappreciated strokes of genius that went into composing the incredible soundtrack of this incredible game!! i do want to bring another great detail about mind of a thief to your attention if you aren't aware of it already though, which is that once the climax of the song hits (around 8:17 in this video), the bass part is almost definitely deliberately echoing the similar bass part prominent in Forest of Flames. the notes differ slightly but the rhythm and motion are identical and i always thought it was awesome that in a part of the song that already sounds so good on its own, there's a pretty seamless callback to a song from last chapter! just wish more people knew about it cause it's such a cool inclusion, hope you have a great day!

This was my favorite track from the demo and listening to it now actually brought tears to my eyes. Very strong Hotel Dusk and Last Window vibes. The combination of piano and bass is just immaculate.

I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but that bartender is HIDING something. Hear me out. He's got all these bottles on the wall behind him and NOT A DROP of liquid is missing from any of them! SO I ASK YOU, WHO'S GOING TO THIS BAR?! NOBODY?! This guy is drying a teacup! A TEACUP! IN A BAR?! WHAT"S HE SERVING?!?! I guarantee there's some skeletons under that bar... literally...

thanks for taking the time to give the Face Shrine its own moment. I've played the game since childhood in the '90s. It's sad and sweet at the same time And omygod you just blew my mind with the cave theme -> anglers tunnel, I swear i never noticed that until now!! Sometimes I still turn on my old Gameboy Advance and play the original cartridge, to hear the mountain theme and look at the clouds

i love music in games, it always makes me ;-; especially with smart use of it. But with that said, music theory and construction and all that both bores me and is like ancient greek to try to understand. I gave this video a chance despite that, and was *not* disappointed. The only thing more shocking than how much i enjoyed it was that it appears to be a first for you in terms of this format, because you absolutely nailed it. The intro explaining a groundwork for what you wanted to talk about was easy to follow + entertaining, and your description of how the music works and flows works well even when one has a bottom level understanding of basic music theory. easy subscribe :)

I considered it just kinda... lazy. I'm torn between "expanding the mind" to the possibility that "he saw this in his mind when saw the dungeon and decided to reuse the Cave Theme" and all that.... or that it was simply a corner cutting technique. The dungeon isn't terribly memorable outside probably the most annoying midboss in the game, and the game's easiest actual boss. I do appreciate the attempt to dress it up a bit, but I felt the same about Face Shrine's theme, that it was flat, but MAN they made that dungeon's theme amazing in the remake. They put WORK into that one. But then, perhaps I'm reading into that one, and not this one. So who knows.

one thing I didn’t notice until now is that the harp feels kinda reminiscent of the synth part.
