The clip shows some basic concepts and attribute drills using the double stick open four count striking pattern. The clip includes a speed comparison of the open position four and eight count pattern versus the slower, tactically limited closed position three or six count pattern.

This video was shot back in May of 2017. The day before, a friend sent me a video with two guy's poorly demonstrating traditional Filipino Martial Arts drills and making disparaging comments on the effectiveness of FMA in general. These guys offered up their big answers to all the feeble FMA methods with this one technique. So, the morning of the video being shown here, I taught my training par...

In sparring with the late great SGM Cacoy if you got too aggressive he would light you up. Some people thought that younger sparring partners were being nice to him because of his age. Not the case, we were all afraid of him putting lumps all over our heads or even knocking us out. I was overly aggressive the first time I sparred with him in Cebu, we only sparred for about 90 seconds and he put lumps all over my head. I threw my stick on the mat hoping he would stop but he hit my knees and legs several times causing me to drop my hands and then he went back to head shots while he laughed hysterically. I never did that again. After that experience I decided to go with the flow and try to learn.

I met him in Cebu in 2012. Spent about 2 hours visiting and watching the class. He told me that he had about 900 jokes and stories (and told me several) and when he gets to 1000 he will put them in a book. I was honored to meet him and spend time with him.
