Bamboo Needle sharpening

I have been revisiting some acoustic grams for fun and experimenting with cutting and sharpening bamboo needles .. This record is very worn as and the needle didn’t really survive the torture test !
Fibre bamboo needles - test
Просмотров 622 месяца назад
I have been experimenting making my own fire (bamboo) needles - now spring is here, I have been enjoying giving the old 101 a run on the verandah. Fibre needles are not too loud and are probably better for the records on the whole :-)

Been having some fun with the 101 and home made fibre (bamboo) needles - using old machines on occasion can satisfy a theatrical itch!

How'd you obtain your lacquers? I'm actively searching for them too and they're so scarce.
they can be occasionally found in thrift/antique stores but can more reliably be obtained over online marketplaces if you want to risk the damage shipping them could inflict
I have two variants of this same label. One is from WW2 before the ABC was named the ABC. it was under the National Broadcasing Service label, which was their former name.
❤
WOW you listen the master
just found this record in a skip
What's the make on that cartridge?
Shure cart I think …
Episode 2 available?
that was halarious

Excellent! Thank you for this. Will upload a video of my copy played on great grandfathers 1924 Decca RD 631877.
The Langley Schools Music Project, the "outsider" music lp featuring kids singing and playing these Orff instruments for joyous covers of David Bowie, Beach Boys and Paul McCartney, brought me here. Charming!
👍🏻
Tried to connect as many as I could to the Schott-Music edition as I could. Anything in "quotations" are things I couldn't source. Happy music making! Imagine anyone telling Dame Clara her voice could still be heard 112 years later!
And it will be heard for 112 years more.
Élvezhetetlen és értékelhetetlen, demens kultúrsznoboknak való katasztrofális borzalom, az alkotó szándékának totális félreértelmezése.
The recordings were made in 1926. On side 1 you can hear Nathan Glantz and his orchestra, side 2 features Lou Gold and his orchestra.
My dad used to sing this
Can you please give me some information about using volume 2 and what are the prerequisite of children's musical abilities they must aquire before moving onto level 2.

Hambourg as a student of David Popper and this pressing recorded during Popper’s lifetime, the circumstances make it a valuable performance-practice document.
Thanks for highlighting this. I recall that there is a mystery recording in ‘The Recorded Cello’ anthology put out by Pearl in the late 80s. This mystery recording made in the first decade of the 20c may (just may) have been Popper himself performing, according to the track notes. Are you aware of this and any other info which may have come to light since..?
@@langleycello Popper, like Mahler, was a Jewish Bohemian, therefore any direct evidence of existing recordings by him, as with Mahler, was systematically expunged during the Nazi period. That having been said, recordings of Mahler do exist under the Court Opera Classics series (years 1903-5), albeit non-attributable. If the recording you mention is of Popper, then evidence of it will be circumstantial, not direct. I am not familiar with it, so many thanks for the heads-up.
Какая удивительная разница между исполнением этого Вальса Бруно Вальтером и Леонардом Бернстайном. У Бернстайна это апофеоз чувственности, у Вальтера куда больше сдержанности. Но оба прекрасны! Спасибо!
I think Franklyn Baur is the vocalist.

0:36 is when the anthem begins.
Recorded on August 11, 1927. Originally released on {American} Victor 21119.
She died 3 days after the king
What a beautiful song.
This is, unfortunately, a very thin-sounding recording, I suppose of necessity from the time it was done. There is a much more recent (but still somewhat old) and much better-quality recording by Stephen Dornan and Wendy Pomeroy (uinfortunately I don't recall the orchestra, but it's a fair bet it would have been the Sydney Symphony Orchestra conducted by the at-the-time ubiquitous Patrick Thomas, who did so much for Australian music of the time). It was an A.B.C. recording, and got broadcast a lot in the 1970s; I'm not sure if it was ever released outside the A.B.C., but if anyone has a copy of it, I'd love to see it posted on RUclips. On the other hand, I hope it wasn't one of the sad casualties of the time when A.B.C. FM supposedly threw out their record and tape library when computers began to be used for storing music. (That was a rumour, and I hope it isn't true - but I heard that practically the entire library was disposed of to landfill. I shudder to think of the treasures that may have been lost if that is true.) On the same record, with the same performers, was Frank Hutchens' Phantasy-Concerto for two pianos and orchestra. It would be great to have both these recordings posted here one day, if possible.
