I’d say in that situation is lower the weight… or also… train the core such that it becomes stronger and your ability to brace goes up! Best of luck!

Is it ok to look up at the mirror doing this or not. I feel like my neck can become stiff but I feel obliged to look at the mirror.
My premise is usually that your neck should be in line with your upper body. Of course you can look up for 1 or 2 reps, but I suggest not doing this constantly - for the exact reasons you noted.
Holding te dumbells firmly & evenly is of added benefit.

Is it alright to do this with only one dumbell? So training one side at a time? If so. Should I alternate arms for a set or should I finish one arm before starting the other?
