Argumentative Performance Inital Remarks
Просмотров 204 года назад
This is the first of a series of clips from my senior project titled "argumentative performance" featuring Basim Blunt (left) and Samuel Eagleburger (right). The two subjects argue the validity of pacifism vs. aggression in the context of effective activism in modern society. As the experiment progresses, I integrate elements of painting, journaling, and performance to the their environments. U...

New Nagra owner. Came for the Nagra tutorial. Staying for "Let's have a manic episode" and Eric Andre police scenes.
Respect to you Miss.
1:07 But that wasn't correctly but clumsy. Also a tape should have some leader tape at start and end, this helps to identify the start and can also be used, to write onto the tape the content or the number, the tape has in the database.
Seems to be ¼" tape on 8 mm home movie reels
Hello , just getting my first Nagra 4.2 there's a specific type of mike that I should use for recording ?
Povero Nagra!!ma chi le ha insegnato a caricare il nastro??????
Thanks for your great video. Could you please tell me how to export the recording to a daw (sound card)? Thanks so much and sorry for my English (I am French) 😊
You have special recess for leading tape in the collecting reel, why don't you use it?
hello. What good memories of this gem. I still have my Nagra 4.2 and with it I recorded many 35 mm, 16 mm movies. although I must maintain it. thanks for sharing this video
Is this a 3 head tape machine? Can I send audio via (Inputs 1 & 2) and capture onto a computer via (Outputs) into a computer in Real time?
Yes, it is a three head machine. That three-head feature allows you to monitor the actual recording rather than just the input signal. There is a switch called TAPE and DIRECT that allows you to switch back and forth between the incoming signal and the actual recorded signal on the tape. The Nagra has a LINE OUT that should allow the mono signal to go into a computer's LINE INPUT.
You could, but it has a latency. Also the delay can vary. The best would be, when it is about 4 to 5 minutes and the start has some metronome click, that you can allign the re-recorded track with the others. For your application, a ½" master recorder could be better, less noise.
Me gustan esos grabadores
Saludos mari :)
Mui bueno
Hi, I have a Nagra iii and I don't know how to change the roller. Can you give me an explanation? I would be grateful
@Mari Smith : it's not made in Sweden - it's made in Switzerland
Откуда эту криворукую даму притащили в тему )))
@4:40 "There is a giving and receiving head"... most accurate point made in this video.
Does the Nagra 4.2 have phantom power? Thx
Some do, some don't depending on how it was optioned. The one in this video does have phantom power.
Only here because the clowning the cops video didn’t allow comments. Anyway, just wanted to say that playing police in skits isn’t actually clowning anyone lol. But it’s okay have a good day and be safe! 👍🏼
thanks!
Thanks for this video- I hope to get one of these some day!
I have one for sale
Sorry, but is this a prank? People working with Nagra recorders are not novices, who doesn't know how to load tape onto a tape recorder. At least that's what I think.
thank you Mari Smith it is really help me....
Thanks, excelent.
It is not very professional to let hang out the leader tape 15 cm off the spool....
Opak uređaj sa 3 glave. Skoljko mani. Rok isporuke. Hvala.
Thank you 🙏 really well done, really helpful!
Imate li nagru sa zvučnicima dva izlaza i svojim pojačalo.
You can record in stereo and mono? E.g. you could record a guitar and then rewind and record vocals?
No. You can't record on one track and listen to the other at the same time with the Nagra. For such records you need a machine which enables synchroplay or multiplay. In that case the record head is used to playback the first track while recording the second one. Otherwise there will be no synchronity...
i think you need to get a manual and have a good read , ....you are sooooooooooooooooo far off on the use of this machine , you may want to just study up a little bit
The Guide to the Nagra 4.2 by Fred Ginsburg is an excellent manual. This guide also includes many articles on how to record sound using a Nagra.
free associative commiseration for those hemorrhaging magic to the conjuring of technology
Like the sepia tones..
You have a gift for the insightful..when many are too disillusioned to even try to look. bravo.
Awesome..thought provoking and compelling..You go it going on..Thanks for that !
Very Cool..very imaginative and i think..cinematic. Keep this up and RUclips will discover You and You might just realize that You have a real gift here..Good Job !
Mari..You have presence. That is now a rare thing. Your opinion and outlook on the World is relevant and my take is that it is waiting and looking forward to more of your videos.
thank you :)
Nice video. Three remarks. You don’t need the red tab for recording. It is just a shielding for the playback head. Also, of course they make quarter-inch (or 6.3) jack adapters and plugs for new headphones.
Tu es Française ?
I think you should point out that the "Pilot" indicator should only be showing if you are making a recording that is being synced to a film camera. When you are recording "wild", in other words not recording any thing that is to be synced to film you don't need the "Pilot" function to be working. The "Pilot" indicator will work when the recorder is receiving a sync signal. The fact that it was showing a signal means it was receiving sync from some place, but this may not be important to what you were doing. The "Pilot" sync will not harm your recording, you can't hear it..
Actually Pilot sync is generated internally to make sure the tape is running at exactly the correct speed even if the machine is being jerked around while chasing someone on foot while recording. The Pilot indicator goes white because it is recording the internal Pilot tone onto the tape and comparing it to the set run speed and corrected in real-time. There is an external Pilot input on the right side for connection to a camera or other machine for motor sync up.
Thanks for this vid, I have a Nagra 4.2 also and I want to start using it for all my dialog recording for a film I'm going to make, but I will have to run it into my computer for final editing of the film after I record the sound, do you know how to get the recoding into the computer? - Thanks
oh my... you should not be asking questions like that
Yes, connect a cable from the two "Fully Floating Line Output" banana jacks on the right side into an analog audio line level input device connected to your computer. Playback the tape and record it on the computer into a DAW or NLE audio track.
So typical for Americans. This deck was made in Switzerland, NOT Sweden. They are two different countries and are far apart. Edit: Otherwise, love the video!
Just exactly what I wanted point out, but in a much kinder fashion.
I am QUITE sure you get this question a lot, but are you interested in selling this NAGRA?
Nope! But thanks for offering!
As Nagras are mostly not being used for film recording (it is all digital these days) I would think you could buy one quite reasonably. They do appear on EBAY at times, but I would not buy a used Nagra sight unseen. Check with on one of the film sound supply houses. As Nagras are not in demand for film work these days, you may be able to get a deal
I m ready to sell a nagra 4.2
I have one for sale

An organ sound was a good choice for this episode.
