Hello, Thanks for this very informative video! I have a question regarding the money held in those foreign accounts, do I need to declare the amount as well? I am Indian and currently a tax resident in France, and my foreign accounts are accounts like WISE and my own Indian NRE/NRO accounts. Do I need to declare the money that I sent to my Indian accounts via WISE in my French tax declaration? Is there a upper limit to such transfers, above which it has to be declared to some authorities (tax or other)? Thanks a lot in advance.

As pertains to the 183 day rule, do the days that "count" against the 183 have to be in France itself, or does tome in all of the Schengen/EU count against the 183 limit as well? But my question was about people who work for UNISEF and live in Paris and pay no taxes. That looks wrong to me. But France let’s them pay no taxes because they want UNISEF in Paris. If you start making exception. You do not have a democracy. The EU it is now known is not be a democracy but a very nasty type of dictatorship. Europe is a beautiful place . Bonjour! Thanks for the informative video. I moved to France in December 2023. Am I required to file French taxes this year, having only lived there a few weeks of the tax year?

@@learnersojourner Yes indeed - you are supposed to submit a french tax return as soon as you become a french tax resident and you'll have to declare in france your worldwide income from the day you arrived until the 31st of december! As I said, declaring does not mean paying thanks to tax treaties... :)

Geraud I have lived almost all of my life in the US but I have dual US & French citizenship. I am considering retiring in France and I understand that US based government pensions and social security are not taxed by France, but would that apply to me also being a dual citizen? Does France tax US employer pensions? US based interest, dividends and capital gains?

Hello Edward, your government pensions would remain taxable in the US as well as dividends and interests - the rest might be taxable in France depending on your final situation !

Q1. What is the initial amount to get into France under "Sufficient Funds"? Q2. I had to relinquish my EU British passport(because of Brexit) when it expired early this year, 2024, and is now replaced with a British passport. What are the rules now with a British passport? Many thanks.

Hello Elizabeth, thank you for your comment but we are unfortunately simply chartered accountants/tax advisors and we are not working on the VISA issues - taxes are enough !

Are foreign pensions taxed in France? Specifically, government/ public pensions. For example, I receive a U.S. military pension and in a few years my wife will retire from her US federal government career and will draw a pension…and we will both be eligible to receive social security in a 10-12 years from now as well. Thank you for the information.

Hello @mr-vet, usually government pensions remain taxable in the country where they come from. In your case it would remain taxable in the US and you would not pay extra taxes in france !
