Sunbird is a great airplane. I have 2.

I often had hawks and eagles come up and look into the cockpit around Tocumwal in Victoria. However none of them attacked in any way. In gliding you are often circling with the birds and they are used as a sign of lift by most glider pilots.

I had to go back to the beginning to see that it was being hand thrown as the motor kicked ON. Also that grass being tall as it was in the end. Search for "Flyfly DG-808S 4m/157'' RC Glider Electric Motor Version" Beautiful looking RC model. I liked the propeller being in front of this model, than the one I found for sale, that is mounted on top, in back of canopy.

Beautiful video. Glad the raptors decided to leave your horizontal stabilizer alone! We have a slope here in Frankfort Kentucky USA where a few red tailed hawks get curious especially if you fly near their resting area. But most will just circle for a bit and leave. AJ

Great video...I have a full carbon RCRCM Typhoon which has a design fault...after a fast loop it skews out to either side totally out of control. RCRCM are a nightmare to deal with so I will never buy from them again. Even with snapflap adjustments it still skews out so a strange design fault. Even the stock motor which RCRCM suggested and sold me went up in smoke due to quality issues....

That is really impressive for Black-shouldered Kites, that are small raptors and not normally overly aggressive. Presumably, you are in Australia, (if so that is what they are) although there are very similar species in other parts of the world.

It keeps going after the the canopy. Almost as if it was trying to eat the tiny man inside.

Hello, GREA! IMPRESSIVE FYLING! I believe I have the same model (made by EMS but I understood the moulds were later owned by Paritech). I have serious troubles with stability of the model: left alone it goes into bigger and bigger oscillation (up and down). My question : what is the centre of gravity AND empannage you hav or had in this one? I started from 45mm and I’m moved back significantly but still not good.

kind of looks like its trying to swipe a blade from the prop. My guess is the glider looks like a large bird with a couple fish hanging out of its mouth and the hawk is trying to steal it.

Imagine if the hawk was to scale.. scary 😱😱😱

The pilot seems somewhat of a stoic fellow.

This was not hunting. Looks like hawk protected his territory from another predator.
