This project file has now been updated to support the Orchestral Essentials 2.0 updates! As well as improving the overall mix and restructuring the track layout and signal flow.
That means I can finally grab this project! 🙂I did not own the original Orchestral Essentials but during the re-release (for version 2.0) ProjectSAM ran a campaign with very attractive sale. Needless to say, I snatched them then and there 😉 This tutorial should give me a nice view of what the two libraries can do! Thank you for the update!
Only if we could ever open the CPR file, LOL.
Coming back to this a year later to say that it's still a favorite. While OPUS is frustrating in some ways (terrible legato bumps at low dynamics on the solo horn, for example), this helped me parse best usage for many articulations. Can't wait for more! Maybe something for Abbey Road One?

Jayden, this was an insanely valuable walkthrough. Thank you! Would it be possible to obtain a Logic Pro version of the project file (I found the Cubase version on Synthestration). If that isn't an option, would it be possible to obtain an OMF export from Cubase that I can attempt to import into Logic Pro? So many thanks for producing this -- your observations about instrumentation and sound reinforcement are the best I've ever seen!
Your comments are very kind! I'm glad you found the video helpful. I will look into creating a Logic version of the project. The tricky part is all of the custom tweaks that were made to each track, the OPUS settings, and the Expression Maps in cubase. But hopefully I will find some time soon to make it happen!

I have Cubase Artist 12, will this work with that?
I can't test it myself, but I do believe this project will work with Cubase Artist almost exactly the same way. The only difference that I can see from the Steinberg website, is that Cubase Artist does not include the "Frequency" EQ plugin, which I did use on a couple of occasions. I assume that plugin will simply not load if you tried to open the project with Artist. Everything else should be the same.

I've never used Expression Maps before, I have each articulation as a separate track, but I guess I'll revise my template, it looks pretty handy and takes up a lot less workspace. Thanks!

Never heard any one mocked up this good on EW Hollywood orchestra . I am having a hard time making medium tempo legato triplet sound good on HW strings and also the library itself is very comprehensive. If you can please I would like to request you make some legato issue that beginners might face on HW strings.

first off, the fact that you got this clean of a sound from EastWest's Hollywood Orchestra continues to amazes me. Secoundly, this some really great advise on overcoming shortcomings in libraries

I listened to it twice I liked it that much. No wonder people always use that software it sounds amazing.
Very nice mockup, and interesting walkthrough 🙂 Interesting to see other peoples routing and mixing, and I see potential for improvement in my mixing setup, especially with regards to be able to print the reverb to STEMS and have different mix control setups for different needs in Cubase. Inspired to make some changes in that regard 🙂

@@synthestration7763 I have already found a way to fit/route itninto my template via groups tracks for all bigger sections (strings high, strings low, brass high, brass low etc, and have a send on these groups tracks to a scoring stage reverb and then to STEMS when I print, used it on my latest mockup where I tested a full CS-series set up for composition of mine 😊 ruclips.net/video/ZLHDcdsA4W4/видео.html Thanks for the tip!
brilliant orchestration. I keep using OE1 & 2 in almost every track. I must say that the legato flute oboe and trumpets are so easy to use ... I find EW more difficult to edit even if the final resul can be much most customized and versatile.
Agreed! The legato wind instruments are a highlight of these libraries

Hi there, there will be (lots of) interested buyers if you just pr9vide this well-balanced Cubase template with some example midi in some same style (but non JW). Given Opus subscription is highly affordable, there will be a large audience who yearn for this.
