    I hope you kept the tops and seeds, and planted them ?

      Thanks for your comment, tops and seeds are very slow to grow and not vigorous, traditional planting out is only ever done with side shoot sucker's as shown as they grow quickly and fruit within the year after transplanting.

      Thanks mate, glad your outdoor 'dunny' as Aussies call it worked out well with FC cladding. You'd be done with 3 sheets on three sides and a door isn't it.

    Seems like you allowed your watermelon plant to get too large. With that large vine the plant can not focus on growing best mellows. Too much energy is going to the leaves.

    Great video Ben. That’s some nice Eggplants there. I got a decent sized crop from my one & only eggplant tree/bush. Going to try the long white variety next season.

    • @SimpleNaturalPractical
      @SimpleNaturalPractical 5 месяцев назад

      Thanks mate, yeah it's surprising how much you can get from a single bush in the corner of the garden, certainly worth the garden space, we enjoyed growing different kinds too, we had a bush of smaller round white ones in brisbane that was also super prolific for several months, I find smaller varieties can give more than the giant ones, especially with lots of fertiliser and mulch. The long ones are nice to cook too, just cut in half and baked with other veg, yummy. To be honest I'm so encouraged that you are so into growing food now, practicing what we preach about resilience. Hope we can inspire many others to see great value in growing a bunch of thier own quality food, especially in the coming times

      @@SimpleNaturalPractical growing up on the farm as a kid was the best lifestyle but as an adult I’ve lived in cement village, it’s nice and rewarding getting back into growing food. I’m going to try and promote your channel. I think the content you’re putting out is exceptional & people need to watch it. So educational.

    • @SimpleNaturalPractical

      Yeah what a privilege for children to grow up surrounded by nature and practical life, it's the true education modern society robs so many of. I'm struggling to start to make decent videos and it will be a while before the audio and visuals are half decent, but I wanted to start many years ago, and it's now or never I think, I'll do my first 100, and try get better. I can see how hard it is to squeeze out the time to pump out vids when your not very tech savvy, even if your passionate, it takes a lot to do it consistently and improve. I hope I can be a blessing, there's so much of the fundamental basics of healthy and resilient living that most completely missed in wasted years of unbalanced and deficient education. You could say that about practical business sense and financial know-how too I'm sure.

    • @SimpleNaturalPractical
      @SimpleNaturalPractical 6 месяцев назад

      We have Naus fruit here, they are also similar size, a bit smaller and have a larger seed which is spiky, and tastes more sour like a granny Smith and has that more crunchy texture like an apple, Naus also turn more yellow when ripe. To be honest Naus should have the name island apple, this one is much more like a pear. I'll show some Naus when they ripen again

    Thank you for this video. Aren't the leaves sharp? How are you handling it? Also do you need to water? What part of the world? We just landed on a neglected farm in Costa Rica with very few unripe pineapple plants and we are trying to care and spread them

    • @SimpleNaturalPractical

      Yes they do need good watering in dry periods to grow well, but are fairly hardy once established. Glad to hear your tackling gardening challenges somewhere new, how exciting. We are in Vanuatu in the tropical south pacific islands, volunteering at a remote school
