UNESCO established the Intangible Cultural Heritage List. 1.This list also encompasses living expressions and traditions. Intangible cultural heritage means the skills, knowledge, expressions, representations, practices - as well as the artifacts, objects, instruments, and cultural spaces associated with them that various groups, communities and in certain cases individuals recognize as a part of their cultural heritage. 2.This list is published by the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Its members are elected by State parties meeting in the United Nations General Assembly. 3. It aims at drawing attention to the importance of safeguarding cultural heritage and is a repository of cultural diversity and creative expression. India has 15 cultural heritages in UNESCO’s Intangible cultural heritage list: 1. Ramlila-2008 2. Vedic Chanting-2008 3. Kudiyattom-2008 4. Ramman-2009 5. Chhau dance-2010 6. Kalbelia-2010 7. Mudiyettu-2010 8. Buddhist Chanting-2012 9. Sankirtana-2013 10. Traditional Brass and Copper Craft of Utensil Making-2014 11. Yoga-2016 12. Nowruz-2016 13. Kumbh Mela-2017 14. Durga Puja in Kolkata-2021 15. Garba of Gujarat-2023
