I started this channel to document all of the things that I do around the house and garage to save money. Contractor pricing has gotten outrageous during the pandemic and you can do most things yourself with a few tools and some DIY enthusiasm.
Things you will find on this channel include: Cars, home improvements, tool reviews, things like that. Consider subscribing and follow along, hopefully you will find something in my videos that can help you out. Trust me, you can do this yourself.
There are many factors when people do projects for themselves most times people learn something new and save themselves a bunch of money, but other times things happen beyond the control of I'll do it Myself. I assume no liability for property damage or injury incurred as a result of any of the information contained in these videos. I bought a Worx leaf mulcher to help clean leaves off my yard
It's that time of the season again. I purchased this Worx leaf mulcher to cut down on how many bags I was having to use when clearing yard debris. This was a great investment and helped save me time and effort in leaning up my yard.

Replace an old downspout | Protect your foundation and mulch beds

First time for me attempting to do work on my downspouts, if yours need repairing save some money and do this yourself. @@bretschawang5102 sorry. My first answer wasn't really clear. The transition is carpet laid next to the rubber tile. Both are just cut and laying next to each other, there is no "transition" piece, the materials just abut each other

I like mine but damn the water dripping down hard and fast. I had to adjust it to super low..... So much wasted. But so far my nose less dry and hurting.
FYI, my car only took around 1.4L today when I changed it. Then I looked at the owner's manual and it says 1.35L or 1.42 qt.
I see that you are using 4 Rhino Ramps. Is it easy to get on them? Reason why I'm asking is because last week I tried to get the front tires on the ramps for changing oil on my LS460, the ramps kept getting pushed forward but could not get on. Finally on the 3rd attempt, I drove really really slow and it went on the ramps. But for 4 ramps it would need more power I assume and you need them on the ramp all together.
@@HumbleBearcat I drive on to the front ramps and then jack the rear axle to put the back tires on
@@PlatoonGarage Mystery solved😄! Where do you use the jack up point for the rear? Differential?

You really can't beat a mulching mower. Even a push mower works fine. This seems like it adds an unnecessary extra step of having to actually scoop the things up and feed them in there.
It's perfect for bagging, adding to a compost bin, and moving to raised garden beds after composting food debris for 3-4 months.
@@KaylaEchols221 Now THAT sounds like a really great way to use this. Thanks.
Over all a good video, I wouldn't however recommend putting anti-seize on the slide pins. It can cause break dust and sand to stick to the pins. I just clean mine up with a wire wheel and put them back in clean and dry.
Nice video. I have an Amana furnace/AC combo outside (made by Goodman); the inducer fan wouldn't start so the furnace wouldn't fire up. I could manually spin the fan and it would start spinning, and the furnace would start. The local HVAC guy wanted $900 to replace the fan; I bought the assembly from Goodman for $150 and installed it myself.
I have use EGO mower and mulch my leaves. The mulching blade worked really well!!!!!!!!!!! My battery is now three years old. When I first turn on the mower, the first segment of the battery charge is already gone. So, I did not get as much mowing time, before having to recharge the battery.
I'm a fairly accomplished DIY-er. But this project is not for the faint of heart! You did well! Pretty sure It would have taken me at least 2 newel posts as well!
@@jeffdeluca1153 thanks for the compliment, it definitely was tricky, but turned out great
I'd love to have one of these to mulch the leaves and then put them in the garden. I bet they break down fast that way...and would help my rock hard soil. In spring, they would be so easy to till under what is left of them
I bought one of these this year. Appropriate thickness string trimmer line cut into pieces works well so you don't have to buy the specific pre-cut pieces. I also tossed the stand from the get-go. Instead I cut a hole in a piece of plywood the same size as the stand and placed it over a large plastic trash can. Then similar to you just used that to dump the leaves into paper lawn bags held open with one of those plastic leaf chutes. Next year I might experiment with braided picture hanging wire instead of the plastic trimmer line for longevity. My biggest frustration was how the trimming line slowly gets shorter with wear, leading to leaf litter clogging up the inside perimeter of the unit.
@@marcberm nice . I definitely noticed a drop off of effectiveness when the string wore down and got shorter. This is a good tip too that any weed Wacker string can work as long as it's the right thickness, doesn't have to be purchased from worx

I have the Worx mulching vac/blower. It works great, but very dusty, so I try to wear a hoodie.
that wire breaks way too easy if you accidentally get a small twig in there. It doest empty well, shredding sticks to the side and clogs easy. huge pia
That's my biggest frustration with it. Regular trimmer line works too, but I'm planning to try braided picture hanging wire next year as a more durable possibility.
I received one as a gift kept if a couple years and sold it. I hated it. I could rake the leaves put them on a tarp and drag them to the curb for the city to suck them up much faster. I guess if you have a few leaves or you are required to bag them up maybe it would be OK but between the noise and the dust it just didn't work for me. Just too slow also!!
Thanks for video! Have you tried LeafEasy sold by Lowes? It is placed inside paper bag and has a chute. The problem with paper bags is they rip easily. Also assuming sticks will trash weed wacker strings. Thanks!
@@andycarroll3 haven't tried that. Honestly this is my first time trying anything like this. Good to have options
Why not put your paper bag into the plastic bag and then run the mulcher. When full, pull the full paper bag out and replace with a new paperbag. You always have the plastic bag in place to hwlp with the dust. Just an idea.
@@michaeldanielsg19 didn't think of that, might have to try it
How would this work on pine needles? I have a couple large pine trees in the yard with a small mix of hardwood trees with small leaves. Would this be something to deal with pine needles?
@@michaeldanielsg19 not sure how it would work on pine needles. They might chop up a bit smaller, but this is mainly for hardwood leaves to chop them up to reduce the amount of lawn bags needed
Seems like extra work to me🤷🏽♂️
Just use your lawn mower to mulch the leaves!
You never showed the chopped up leaves.
I use a sharp mulching blade on my mower all season and don’t bag grass clippings. In the Fall I mulch the leaves into the grass every few days until they’re pretty much down for the year. I don’t rake or bag leaves and haven’t for years.
I do the same thing!
Who said you needed 20amp 12gauge for GFCI?
Using a snow shovel scoops leaves very well too
What a crap
I get a ton of big leaves from buttonwood trees in the neighbors yards that (of course) blow into my yard and hug the skirting and shrubs around my deck and side of my house. I've found the best method is to use a blower/rake to pull all of those leaves out from around the deck & house, have my toro mower set with a high deck, run the leaf pile (raked in a long narrow swath) over with the mower a few times, put the bagger on the mower, and suck up the shreds, dump them in trash cans I use for yard cleanup, and take them to the nursery down the road that takes yard refuse. I can do a huge amount of leaves in about 30 minutes.
In our area we are not allowed to put leaves or any garden waste in the trash. Also NYS prohibits the burning of leaves. All I do is mulch the leaves in place on the lawn. As long as you don't wait until the trees are all done shedding but mulch as soon as the grass is lightly covered, no problem.
definitely strange how different the rules can be on something as simple as leaves. our HOA does not allow us to let leaves remain, they have to be removed off of lawns. because of how many mature hardwood trees surround my house, there is no way to mulch all of the leaves into the grass
4 bags? Spread chipped leaved on your garden or mulch bed. No need for bags! Chip onto a sheet and drag to where to need them. You had helpers. That’s nice. Ask me how I know. They’re wonderful for finishing jobs like this. The WORX chipper? I prefer a lawn mower over the pile.
My EGO mower with the high lift blade chops and bags the leaves. Gives a retired guy something to do outside of the house and away from the Mrs.
You don’t hunt or fish?
I just run the lawnmower over the garden compost in place 😁
I've had this machine for about 4 years now and it works very well. Loading it with a shovel is the way to go. I use the leaf mulch in my garden and compost pile. But shredding leaves just to bag them seems to be unneccessary. Get a plastic corrugated plastic bag insert from Home Depot or similar store and just bag the whole leaves. You can pack quite a bit of leaves in those bags by constantly packing them down.
I absolutely disagree, i used to bag whole leaves but it takes way more bags! I mulch them first with my mower than bag, uses a fraction of bags!
I live in Toronto Canada and we have to use paper bags, they're too tall so i bought some tubing and extended the legs by 7" to mulch right into the bag no extra steps, works great but the leaves have to be bone dry and you have to lift the motor unit off a couple of times per bag to pack the mulch down, not a deal breaker though. I use a shovel to get the leaves into the hopper so no bending over
Why are you transferring the shredded leaves to paper bags?
Most cities only pick up leaves in a paper bag. The paper bags are compost friendly and don't fowl up machines.
