Play with the light - SUMMARIT f=5cm 1:1.5 L39
This video is a story about an old lens called the SUMMARIT.
Around 1:24, I make an error. I mention "pincushion distortion," but the correct term is "barrel distortion."

My 1st story of Ernst Leitz GmbH Wetzlar Summarit f=5cm 1:1.5 1957年製のズマリットを入手したので試し撮りしました。 わかりやすいオールドレンズの特徴そのままながら、絞った時の現代のレンズ顔負けの写りは入手以前の想定を上回るものでした。

LEITZ WETZLAR/LEICA SUMMILUX-R 50mm F1.4
Did you know that back in 1982 the Summilux R was 1.3x more expensive than the Summilux M !?
wow...that’s interesting information. I didn’t know that. I bought both of these lenses at a second-hand camera store.
Thanks for video ! What adapter was used with S5 ?
I’m pretty sure it was the SHOTEN mount adapter NF-LSL. But it's been a while since I let it go, so my memory isn’t clear, and I’m not too confident about it...
Very useful and informative review. Thank you for sharing this
Thank you for the comment; it really boosts my motivation!
Buy a Spotmatic then you don’t need an adapter 😁
What you’re saying is interesting, but it’s not digital, right? I’d love to try film, but I need to think more about it since I plan to upload to social media.
@@h2od2o2hohto Yes it’s 35 mm film camera. You scan the negative’s and you upload to PC. An extra process granted, but the upside is you get physical prints, they are in your hands.
Nice work! Your video deserves more views and likes. Thanks for producing it.😊
Thank you for your comment!!Such comments boost my motivation.Because I am not receiving any money from the manufacturers, I want to continue making videos like this in the future.
I had the same lens on my Leica R8 too.
パームイン欲しいなー
ステマのつもりはありませんが、私が以前から使っている10年以上前の同社製シェーバーと比べ別次元の満足感でした。個人差はあると思いますが。
Beautiful imagery; and music!
Thank you for your comment!! The music is from Mr. Chris Haugen. love this beautiful melodies.
The combination of sound and image evokes the feeling I get when I’m switching lenses on my Leica R6.2, searching for the perfect glass and aperture to capture the aesthetic I’m looking for 👍
@@matthewb9935 You have a Leica R6, right? I used to use a Nikon film SLR, but I don't have it anymore. However, I will never forget the experience of taking film photographs. I would love to pick up the film again someday.
I support the move back to film, it’s totally impractical but so much more deliberate and rewarding than digital! You have to be much more invested in planning your shots and thinking about composition with only 24 or 36 exposures per roll of film! Happy shooting!
Thank you
The yellow/amber colour is not a coating. It is caused by the glass containing Thorium. It yellows over time, especially if the lens is kept in the dark. The yellowing can be removed by placing the lens under a UV-light for a day or two.
Thank you for your comment. Honestly at first I thought that. But in my research the atomic (Thorium) lens is used for later Super-Takumar, but my one is early Super-Takumar. Hence, my conclusion, this yellow-look color is coating.
Just got the GH5M2 having used the GH5 for a few years and this profile is really interesting. I compare it with Kodak Portra when developed on paper. That film stock is nearly always out of stock as well.
Thank you for your comment. I researched some web site, Lumix (Panasonic) engineer said that Kodak Portra is one of the reference. so I have to say that your insight is great.
Yekkada bro location ?
Very cool video.
you should try editng l. classic neo with +3 contrast, -3 shadow and highlights, +3 saturation, +1 hue, low film grain, off for color noise, and whatever you want for sharpness and noise reduction. It is really good, try it please.
thank you for your recomendation. I'll try your parameters. As a side note, my favorite parameter set is below: Contrast +1.5 Highlite: 0 Shadow: -5 Saturation: +3 Hue: +1 Low film grain and colour noise is ON. I prefer that lower sharpness and weak noise reduction.
Great video. I found the examples useful.
thank you for your comment. I hope all of your lenses are never destroyed by such.
Mine came with the original metal lens hood although I prefer to use my smaller Pentax 135mm 3.5 M lens with the built in metal sliding hood. My DSLR'S are all Pentax so they work good on Pentax cameras even with the M42 lens adapter
i heard that Pentax camera user can enjoy their old lenses even if they have latest camera. it is not only amazing but also making it special to use Pentax one. Have a nice day with your Pentax!!
Thank you for posting your thoughts & beautiful images on this lens. I have this & the 55mm f1.8 with an adapter on my Fuji GFX 50R & the combo is addictive. ✌🏼 & 📸
Thank you for your comment. I also have 55mm f1.8 one, and i like that, too. Fuji bodies have awesome film simulation mode, so I think it provides so nice works with these old lenses. Have a nice shooting life!!
nice drive so relaxing...
