Why we love and choose to drive Porsches.

What makes a Porsche a Porsche? Why do we choose to drive them?
If you’re over 40 years old, driving a GT car it doesn’t look right.
Im 46. Sold my GT3 for Turbo S Cab. Would do it again. Turbo S is 99% of time a much beteter car.
I would get the Turbo S Cabriolet and I would buy 911 GT3 RS wheels and tires from Porsche direct and put them on my Turbo s911. To give it that wide body GT3 stance
F Type Jaguars are for old men.
I think the turbo and turbo s were meant to be a little more of a daily driver, especially if you're driving it everyday and live somewhere where you need all-wheel drive and are too lazy to buy winter tires like myself LOL. Never personally driven a GT 3 or GT 2... Maybe one day 🤞
I’ll take a rwd evo over both
Turbo s looks better. But I am 51 😎
You betcha.....😊
GT2RS is the answer if u cant decide on either both.
Is 34 considered old if u like the 911 turbo cars 😢
nice podcast, thank you. I am working on simulating 60s 911s for rF2. And I find that most instability of it comes from aerodynamics and narrow tires, even more so if tires are underinflated and suspension is too soft. Of course mass distribution and short wheel base does make it more challenging. I think those old 911s with "civil" engines and brakes, shouldn't have been dangerous at all, unless people drove them abolutely flat out, lacked skill severely and grip conditions were bad and they didn't look at the road, because that car does require constant little corrections at higher speeds.
Living in the UK the GT3 RS was not practical as a regular road car. Nothing like being out in the pouring rain with Cup2 tyres! Also, the state of UK roads also made the RS just less fun than it should have been. Turbo S is fabulous and I have the Cayman R for the track - the best handling Porsche of the lot, albeit not the fastest.
Turbo S for me. I want a performance cruiser. If I wanted a track car and would be going to tracks often then I'd buy the gt3 but I don't. Considering I am going to take the vehicle on long cruises all over like all around california, oregon I want to be able to drive 8 hours a day up and down California highway 1 from bay area to San Diego, Lake Tahoe, Napa, nor cal and oregon coast. Cruising in maximum comfort with performance on winding roads.
Definitely sounds like the right car for you! Excellent choice. 😊
Little boys drive GT3
Only the lucky ones!!
You guys were presenting great content and haven’t been doing anything lately- Just reviewed this video which I originally saw about a year ago and it inspired some thoughts of how I might experience my GT3RS a bit better Hope you’re planning your n future content
Hi Keith, The podcast was inspired by car related conversations between friends. There were times when we thought… Hey, this would be interesting to other people like us! We didn’t have the commitment to build a channel but wanted to explore the concept a bit and share some of these conversations with others. I wanted to at least share some of the topics I thought would be interesting to others and I put 2-3 months worth of work into it and 5-10k of my own funds into the gear, etc. The way we did the podcast was pretty time intensive. We didn’t just turn on the camera and talk about whatever came into our minds. That can work for some but didn’t really resonate with me as the creator. As of now, we are all pretty busy and we haven’t committed to making this content regularly or turning it into a channel. Maybe we should give that a bit more thought. We know that the content resonated with people and it has the potential to grow but I don’t think we currently have the commitment to keep pouring time into it. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Much appreciated. I’ll chat with the guys..who knows. Maybe we can find a way to continue to make some content in a less time intensive way. Best, Wes
@@speedepic I can appreciate that- I own a business and we just started posting videos on RUclips a year or so ago (prior to that we kept the videos on the corporate website) - originally they were just a few videos recorded off the cuff, poor production quality. I’ve just hired a new employee with digital marketing background and - as you said- it was going to be too time consuming for me, hence the hire. I’m now having to commit to better equipment and SEO stuff - I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t want to be so busy. Unless it’s something that could profitable - it’s not a good investment of time etc
Very interesting. I think Porsche wanted to not build rear engined cars at one point. But, the 911 cult hollowing wouldn’t have it. So the tech and aero was used until this day. I have a 996TTS and a E93M3 and Cayman S and more. I enjoy all the layouts. But, I do respect the 911 more closer to the limits. Cheers boys.
Great video! Thanks for sharing
I have had driven both, they both have their pros and cons, but ultimately I prefer the Turbo S. Unless you are tracking it weekly the Turbo S is a daily-driver supercar that I get far more enjoyment from every day
You don't need to track a GT3 in order to appreciate the lighter chassis, engine and intake noises, more nimble handling and the more visceral driving experience. Of course it comes down to personal preference and I'm glad you're loving your car. The Turbo is exceptional. I'll take the daily driving experience of the GT3 any day- but I guess it comes down to what you're looking for. :)
I am sure people daily the GT3, but, I don’t think I would daily a GT3. Turbo all day. I’m in Texas and I want vent seats in a daily.
Correction, "rich old men" 😆
Ha…911 Turbo S for this Old Lady!
Hahahaha. 😂
Old video but just today was recommended. As most ppl, I was a bit intimidated by all the chatter the first time I drove my 964. I quickly found out it‘s totally unwarranted. the car speaks to you with such a frequency and clarity, you always know what‘s happening, going to happen and how to react. IMO it‘s a way more intuitive drive than the tail happy BMWs
Terrible take, actually a sad take, by a bunch of old guys trying to look young. Everybody drives Turbo S's, young and old. It's just the better daily car of the two. If you know, you know.
Did you even watch the video or are you just stupid? Sure the title is a little bit click-baity. That’s called RUclips. We just shared our preference. I guess your preference is just better? Why do you have to make it personal? Because you’re a douche bag?
I love guys like this, they take the initial depreciation on the car and then I scoop them up with low miles and usually $30k to $40k less than they paid. Did just that on a Turbo S. Rule number 1 - don’t buy from online auction sites, way too much hype and testosterone pumping up the prices. Rule number 2 - Just keep a watch on the Porsche finder that lists all available cars at Porsche dealers, you will be amazed at the opportunities and you won’t pay auction fees.
How do you know how "guys like this" buy their cars? You know nothing about us.... I've done very well on my GT cars even making 50k on one of them...and lost very little on my Turbo.
Exact experience here. Went from Huracan to a GT3 RS...there is no comparison. No brake fade, traction control allows you to slightly oversteer without losing confidence, tires much cooler after a cool down lap. Entire track days no issue without drop off in performance, except for tires, which was still manageable and predictable.
Came here to figure out how to drive them because in both ssetto corsa and forza motorsport every single rear engine porsche to me seems undrivable to me (yet i can drive say the aston martin amr pro hard with no assists and line off) and confused cuz when he said to hit the brake hard and allow alot of threshold trail braking, any time in either game in any porsche any amount of braking, with any steering results in what feels like the rear rips the e brake and spins. And the car always both under and oversteers :/
This is very interesting. I wish I had more experience playing those games. Were you able to get any feedback from other gamers that maybe had experience with the game dynamics of the 911? This is a tough one, because I have absolutely no idea how the game behaves. I like the question though!
@@howellwes most often what ive heard from others and my experience is: they can be quick, and they are quick cars on track, if u know how to drive them, but they drive completely different than any other type of car, and additionally, knowing how to drive them is far harder of a skill to learn than driving any other type of car. Like a fwd car on slicks with downforce is a very easy car to drive, predictable, not slidey, recorrects exactly how youd want, etc. Where as a porsche is quick, however it feels like youre constantly wrestling and dancing with it, like as if the porsche wants to put you into the wall. I myself am not really a fan of the imbalance of porsches but i always wanna stay learning so i wanna get good with pirsche driving on the simrig
Roads in America are so bad that you’re going to be beat up in any GT3
I’ve put 8k on mine in the last year. Zero issues with roads.
To me I go for Turbo S because I want to use it for every day
Why cant I have both? In fact Ive 3GT’s and a TurboS.
GT3 2024 looks ridiculous IMO, not a practical car for daily use, it's more for going to the track the weekends, it's like having a MV Augusta F4 or a BMW S1000 RR for street use. By other hand the Turbo S is like a MV Augusta Brutale RR or a Ducati Monster plus, they have the power and don't look ridiculous on the Costco parking lot.
My GT3 looks fantastic at Costco!!!
Gt3 is actually not uncomfortable with standard seats. Actually smoother and more fun to drive than the 911T 992. The T makes crappy sounds and is very uncomfortable on the road. The Pdk gt3 is an emotional ride at high rpm’s.
The GT3 only makes sense if you want to use it primarily(=90% of the time) for track days and canyon runs & twisty roads. For daily usage, and freeway driving, the Turbo S is far superior.
I've put 8k miles on mine in the past year... and they've all been wonderful. If I want something for daily and freeway driving...I'll drive the Audi. :)
@@howellwes Exactly. If you have a car for daily, than the GT3 is a no brainer.
Who makes the wheels you put on the turbo S please
@brixtonforged Give those guys a call - they are perfectionists and continually improve their designs and fit.
The answer is to buy a GT2
For some, sure.. Jeff had both and preferred the GT3 on the track. More linear, better sound....more enjoyable to get the most out of it on the track..
BMW convert here! Watching as a new 991 owner and looking for things like this to help me get the most out of my new thrill ride. Loving it so far. Great discussion. Subbed.
Hey buddy, exactly same feelings here…. switched from a Huracan to GT3 RS - never ever did I imagine that huge difference 😮what a machine! Have fun
I have a 600hp r32 gtr, then decided i needed something with a pdk. I test drove my friends 991.1 GT3 and yes it was nice but it felt slow... so i ended up buying a turbo s. no regrets. but after a week I felt numb to the power... its now booked in for a 750whp bolt on kit. it should be fun and make all the right noises.
Nice! Sounds like you’re having a lot of fun with your cars. That’s the name of the game! 😊
@@howellwes thanks! I find it hard to keep a car stock 😅
Porsche doesn't make dragsters. They're all about performance and that means cornering on rails.
Its not about whats faster, its about the experience... the way the car responds and sounds and how the materials of the interior and looks of exterior make you feel.... ultimately both cars are equally amazing but worlds apart
The only other car I'd buy again is a GT350R.
I had a 997 turbo and 991 gt3 now love the gt3 but miss the manual
Gt3MR?
I am an old GT3 series racer. I will guarantee I can take a Porsche Turbo S and embarrass these guys in their GT's. Only a superior racer can take advantage of the track characteristics of the Porsche GT cars. In 99% of other instances the lower end power and greater top end will give the advantage to the Porsche Turbo S.
Great reference! The peppiness, the screaming nature and the response to the rider inputs... There's a huge difference b/w a 2 stroke bike and a 4 stroke
Why are these guys so serious looking? Felt like an interrogation instead of a discussion. And wearing all black like their cool teenagers or something. These middle aged men need to grow up.
Do these techniques apply to a 911 with rear axle steering? Does a 911 with RAS require a whole other steering technique?
It’s weird having a video show up in your feed again, re-watch it, and see your own comment that you forgot you left months ago. I got a 992 with RAS. I guess I’ll figure it out for myself!
I’ve got the gt3 touring manual & it’s far superior to the turbo as in you can’t use all the power in the turbo
GT3 if you like emotion, turbo s if you want a rocket. Gt3 is plenty quick, holds value better, sounds better, NA engine. Gt3 is best car ever made imo and i hope i will buy it soon
I’ll take a turbo s any day a simple tune intake exhaust turbo can be at 800hp
Guys, while I'd love to share my thoughts on gt3 v turbo s, I need to know which wheels are on the black 991.2 turbo s pictured in this video! Please can someone tell me exactly what they are? I'm sick of putting up with porsche turbo wheels. By the way turbo all the way....had both, agin and again, for every day needs and thrills, turbo! My tack days are done though so I don't need the versatility for that. Wheels please someone! 🙏
Brixton Forged. Cheers!!
When does this guy find time to actually drive his cars? He's far too busy buying and selling.
It’s a rough life
if your a car guy you think that the pops are obnoxious especially when you have a NA engine that’s screams.
