Idk what this is or if this is all just for shits and giggles, but upon skipping through, making Sarah into an empowered sex object in every way before giving her a centered episode doesn’t suddenly make her “a character.” That approach is misogynistic-why was this specific arc laid on her, when other female side characters like Miss Hoover or Brandine weren’t handled this way for their episodes? Maybe it’s because Sarah’s the bubbly plumpy woman? It’s hypocritical for a show claiming to be PC, like canceling Apu or recasting nonwhite characters, but to demoralize and heavily sexualize the heavy doofy and sweet woman before giving her any plot is ok? It's all for the sake of going along with the cult nowadays of demoralizing and de-feminizing women, yet these same people everyday preach about “misogyny”, “fat shaming”, “fat phobic”, “body positivity”, etc etc. Do these people need a mirror? The current showrunner even said Sarah was always written as a “She-Wiggum,” sharing Clancy and Ralph’s quirks but didn't get a whole lot of screen time. Yet, to sell people on the episode, he claimed she had “no personality,” which isn’t true. By that logic, Maggie has no personality because she doesn’t speak, SLH and Snowball don’t have one because they are animals, Ms Muntz is just a slut who neglects her son, Helen is just a gossip, Maude is just a Christian partner to Ned, etc etc, you see where I’m going here? As little of context you have with characters, all of those are traits, which defines a personality. You would have to be a statue to not have a personality. This whole "shock twist" is incredibly forced and nonsensical to her and who she's related to, and all of it destroys the Wiggum image, when they are by far the strongest couple in the show. Worse, they disrespected veteran cast member Pamela Hayden by refusing to let her voice Sarah, even after reverting the character to her original self. With Hayden’s recent retirement, I believe this treatment, and their refusal to give her back the role, contributed to her decision to leave. I met her last year after seeing her documentary, and we discussed this. She expressed disappointment on what they did and how she was treated, but was very heartfelt that we talked about it, and that there are people out there that know the truth behind it. She knows that Sarah is in fact a female version of Clancy and Ralph, even before I could finish my sentence, so there's your answer right there of who she is from the very person who voices her, and let alone, who created the voice. After seeing her documentary, Pamela has, and still deals with depression and had a hard life growing up, and treating her, and her character like this, while denying her the chance to showcase the rest of her talent is morally wrong, and there was no reason to do it like this from the get go. There’s no excuse for this treatment, especially when no other female side character was targeted this way. It seems like selective misogyny. It was a retcon because she was never anything like this, nor has there been any clues or hints, besides, Clancy's backstory was retconned as well. And yes that episode is non canonical because the changes don't line up with any of the detail or context about her throughout the show, none of these changes carried forward, and how it was solely plot dependent and has no lasting impact that makes any sense beyond the plot. And also more than likely because the showrunner realized it was wrong what was done, as well as his hypocrisy-he admitted six times that they changed the character in tweets, which have now since been deleted, but I saved them, despite him saying they haven't changed or retconned anything in general in a podcast. How can you say exactly what she is, but then at the same time say some nonsense as well? But even after reverting Sarah back to her original "She-Wiggum" persona, they still refused Hayden to reprise the role, which there is no excuse for that either, and just proves discrimination. Also as another note, in that episode, they imply that she is a dumb mute who can't string two words together, of which that is untrue as well, she could always speak perfectly fine, again, just underutilized. She's not even a drinker either, so that's another retcon to go with the terrible plot and the demoralization of her character, which they did an "Oceans" parody already, the drinking thing was only in Tapped Out which isn't canon either, but they still wrote her in her original self. Nancy Cartwright might take over, and give the respect that Pamela deserved, and given Nancy's incredible vocal range, it shouldn't be hard to emulate Pamela's Sarah voice, but it still won’t be the same without Pamela. Also, they pretty much changed the character to basically just be Megan Mulally in animated form, even a critic pointed out that she quote "Is putting too much of herself into the character", so not even acting. One of the worst examples ever done on the show, and a disgusting disservice to especially a real life individual. At least with The Principal and the Pauper, they didn't throw Harry Shearer under the bus and bring in and stunt cast a random celebrity.
