    This translation is not like most other translations, where the passage does not state a plural, nor imply that spirit of God lives in their midst. King James and most other English translations say that you as the individual are the templa and that God's spirit lives within you.

    Can a man be joined to hundreds of prostitutes? Can a man become one flesh with hundreds or multiple prostitutes? What does one flesh really mean? How is the sin of immorality a unique sin against your own body? This is confusing to understand Paul's meaning. What happens when a previously immoral person repents of immorality? Are they still joined to a prostitute or multiple prostitutes? Are they still one flesh? What happens to a husband and wife being one flesh, after the husband has sexual affairs?

    I believe in osas. In addition to that I also believe a Christian can't continue to live in habitual sin (1 John 3:6-10, 1 John 5:18) and we have works God planned for us to do (Ephesians 2:10). God keeps us yes (1 John 10:28-29, Romans 8:35, Romans 8:38-39, Hebrews 13:5) but, I can see why people would say those verses don't say we can't leave Him. Here are some verses like John 3:16 and John 10:28, John 4:10-14, John 5:24, John 6:37-40, John 11:26 which are the never verses, never perish,never thirst, never hunger, never cast out, and never die respectively. Also John 6:38-40 says the will of the Father is that Jesus shall lose none but raise them up on the last day. John 5:24 says we have passed from death to life and will never come into judgement. If John 14:16 is for us then the Holy Spirit is with us forever and, Ephesians 1:13-14, Ephesians 4:30 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 and 2 Corinthians 5:5 which speak about being sealed with the Holy Spirit who is a deposit guaranteeing what is to come. So, if I'm interpreting this right, Holy Spirit dwells in us forever and since he is in us forever we are guaranteed our inheritance. Finally Romans 8:29-30 says those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed into the image of His Son and those He predestined will basically be glorified.

    I asked the Lord for clarification. He told me to include verse 3-5. Now I understand. He is saying, My people designate A DAY as a singular event to fast. But what is true fasting?: A time you think you can get right with the Lord and Getting right with the LORD must be a LIFESTYLE. Literally DENY yourself DAILY and follow HIM. Matt 16:24 And it DOES include food. Saying fasting has NOTHING to do with food is INCORRECT. Food is just one aspect of a fast. Taking up the cross daily is a serious thing but that scripture is what HE meant. Helping the oppressed is included.

  • @polynesia8733
    @polynesia8733 4 месяца назад

    so does this mean fasting is NOT abstaining from food at all but doing good works to help mankind? So your interpretation is that you can eat a big steak dinner but as long as you are helping the oppressed it is STILL a fast? That makes NO sense. A FAST is an actual ABSTAINING from food. Those are good deeds NOT a fast.

    The Catholics should listen to this so they will know exactly what that passage says and what it means which will show to them it does not talk about a place called purgatory. Thank you for clarifying it in great detail that will help me to explain it better next time they come and argue with me. God bless.

    I would like to add my two cents here after reading this discussion. First of all I believe we should follow the teaching in 1st Corinthians 11. The main problem here is the misunderstanding of 1st Corinthians 11 altogether. I also have made an intense study of this passage, and the obvious conclusion is that Paul was referring to long hair being the covering. The first thing one should take notice is the lack of wording required to conclude that a veil is being referred to here. The word veil or cloth is not in the text if we read from the King James version. If you read from the “modern” versions then you might get that view but not from the Textus Receptus. I would like for you to reread the verses that allegedly refer to a veil which is 4-7 and 13. In those verses we read the words, cover, uncovered and not covered. According to scholars these are used as adverbs. Like if you were to say I am going to cover my feet. No one should be thinking of a veil just the action of being covered. What is missing in these verses are nouns that would prove the idea of veils. Since we should not be assuming anything we should be asking the question what is the thing that a woman should be covered WITH based on the passage ALONE? So if you do the math you would find that Paul refers to hair directly 3 times and then indirectly 4 times with the words shorn and shaven. So if there is no noun for the word veil or cloth yet there are 7 instances of idea of hair, then what are we to conclude? That Paul is referring to hair whether it be short or long. But the counterargument would be that Paul is allegedly telling women to put something on. But that is not exactly true it says a woman should be covered, but he is referring to long hair based on the surrounding verses. But what about that a woman ought to be covered when praying or prophesying? The assumption is a that Paul was referring to only two instances which is not true he was merely giving us two examples. This also applies to men about being uncovered. Evidence of this is written in the forgoing verses. Paul writes that men ought not to cover because he is the image and glory of God. And then Paul goes into how woman was made for man and is the glory of the man. So it would seem that man shouldn’t be covered at any time if he is the glory and image of God. Paul also mentions that the mere observation of a praying woman should make us note how uncomely (unappealing in appearance) for a woman to be uncovered. Paul states this in a way that it should be obvious to anyone that she looks off in verse 13. He does this again in verse 14 about how shameful it looks if a man has long hair. He says it this way… Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? KJV So this judgement that we should make is exclusively based on observation of an “uncovered” woman as well as a long haired man. Two consecutive questions both appealing to something innate or within us. Paul is in essence saying that it should be obvious to see that something is wrong or off. So how is it that for the women we are somehow to know within us that a woman would be unappealing in appearance without a manufactured veil? That does not seem logical especially since the word veil is never mentioned. Unless that is not what Paul is meaning but rather that if the woman was not covered in long hair (meaning her hair is short) doing something holy or godly LIKE praying or prophesying. I think most people can relate that looking at a woman with sho rt hair does have an unappealing appearance. It naturally provokes head turns. And if there was any question Paul flat out states what he was talking about in verse 15. So the facts are that there no nouns to use as evidence of a veil. There is evidence that Paul was using praying and prophesying as examples. Paul appeals to nature and something innate within us to judge that being uncovered or covered (meaning having short hair or long hair) should be obvious to all. So this cannot make sense with a manufactured veil.

      Correct. One of the prominent controversies of Jesus' ministry was the length he went to in displaying a shift in paradigm for women in His kingdom. (Mary being welcomed to sit at Jesus' feet while He taught being a prime example) This was once exclusively a man's place. 1Tim chapt 2. The subject of women teaching and having authority "over" a man and qualifications to be overseer are two totally separate topics. It's hard to argue against the text that only men are to hold office as Elder/Deacon or Pastor. However, verse 12 shows that a woman's teaching is juxtaposed with her having authority "over" a man. The key word is "over". That is, a woman's teaching does not usurp, or over-rule men's teaching. Why? because Eve was deceived, not Adam. If the men in the church say she is wrong, she is wrong, they over-ride her every time. It's not a prohibition, it's a boundary. Now in 1Cor 14:34,35 the text says that women are to remain silent in the churches. However, not only doesn't it sound like Paul, but it contradicts his statement at chapter 11:5 where woman can pray and prophecy with conditions (head-covering) I believe (as do others) Paul is responding to Corinthian questions and idioms, and is quoting a Corinthian idiom (as he does elsewhere 1Cor 10:23) pushed by the Judaisers, and that Verse 36 is a rebuttal. The KJV, RSV, WEB, ASV and the HNV (Hebrew Names version) start v36 with the word "What"? was it from you only....etc which turns the verse into a rebuttal, which is the only translation that makes contextual and grammatical sense, allowing the context to flow. That's why most theologians (using the other versions), believe these verses don't belong there and are a scribal error. I believe they do belong there, just use the right word, which the Greek makes applicable (allows for), and it all makes sense, and doesn't make Paul look like he contradicts himself

    These truths are universal because the Divine headship and all the divine reasons Paul states (headship, creation order, angels) are still in existence. The example of a shaved head is also timeless because God said so. If we are honest, a shaved head on a woman today is a shame because long hair is a woman’s glory, and that statement is inspired and age lasting. I would also add that when we are worshipping, all men our woman’s head since they lead the worship and women are to remain “silent,” 1 Tim. 2:11-14; 1 Cor. 14:34-35.
