    So this game isnt made for a wide audience, but a niche audience whp likes bland comfort arpgs set in a darl fantasy setting? Yalls argument is so weird here. The games getting critisized for looking bad because it looks bad. Bioware has fallen off. Stop coping.

    Also Elden Ring: its a different kind of game, its either about mastering tough fights or exploration - ER or TES titles lack bit behind in story presentation (although there IS a ton of story, just not presented in cool cutscenes), these games give me the dear feeling of being an explorer in a forlorn world. So feel free to love both genres 🎉

    Although I look forward for a new Dragon Age game, my biggest fear is that gameplay mostly consists of fighting in between cutscenes and a menu-ridden Hub-Area. I want to follow quests, riddles, explore the level areas, find hidden secrets... i really hope the game doesnt forget about gameplay 😢

    it's not for us Origins fans, that's for sure.. Veilguard doesn't feel like a Dragon Age game anymore. I never expected DA4 to be like Origins, I hoped at least for a Inquisiton look -alike. It's too different, there are plenty of kid games out there... I hate how some people put their opinions above everyone else, hating us who don't like what Veilguard is. I am happy for those who like DAV put I am expecting the same treatment when it comes to my opinion. We want the same thing a GOOD game to spend time with. edit: I will buy the game just to see Solas and Varric again and romance the elven hot guy. My Lavellan deserves a SOLAVELLAN ending

    I like how each time Bioware makes a DA sequel the way they see most fitting to promote it is to insult and berate fans of previous DA installments and previous DA installments themself. And, ofcourse, Bioware shills are always there to follow suit. I also like how some cringy contrarians speak on behalf of the entire fanbase about what was important in the franchise and what was not. Apparently, it doesn't matter if something that takes up most of the time when playing any DA game (which is combat) is bad as long as there are... anime characters? Do you guys even know what anime is?

    I just started up Origins for the first time since before the launch of Inquisition. And it was painful. Not because the game is dated...no. It's because that's STILL what I want from Dragon Age and it hurts to see what has happened to it. Each iteration seems to be a greater departure. Dragon Age 2 lost a bunch of the tactical combat, Inquisition got some of it back but ditched the dark aesthetics and had several other problems, and now Veilguard has next to no tactics, can't even control companions, has cartoonish characters/enemies.... We can only HOPE it has compelling writing and characters, but we don't know that yet. I still enjoyed DA2, Inquisition and I'll probably enjoy Veilguard. It's just not the greatness it could be. I don't dismiss the fans who want this kind of game. I'm just saying it's disappointing to me.

  • @Kross415

    Gameplay is important in a game, that's why it's a game and not a book and if you want to play a pretty anime game that's fine but you don't need to ruin the franchise for everyone else... All you want on your Dragon age game is "pretty graphics'' and a dating sim, congratulations for being the target audience. Don't complain when old fans and the wide silent audience reject the game and it doesn't sell. The fact that you think a very loud minority of NeoBioWare fans writing fanfic is going to make the game a success is just hilarious and delusional, sorry.

    idk why everyone is hating here. I mostly disagree, but I think this perspective is valid and important to consider when asking the question of "who is it for?" I especially liked the point about how we already have so many "gritty" and "dark" games. While I loved the original games for their darker tones, especially regarding mages, I think a tonal shift in the series has been occurring ever since. Anyone surprised or disappointed by this game's reveal just hasn't been paying attention. All that said, I am not really excited for this game. It feels very corporate and safe, at least on the surface level previews we have gotten. For some people, that can be a comfort. If that's you I totally understand. And as a side note, "The Veilguard" may be the biggest title downgrade I've ever witnessed lol.

    • @ShepardCommander
      @ShepardCommander 3 месяца назад

      People seem to be expressing their criticism pretty tamely and backed up by their opinion, mostly in a gentle manner, but with some that are more aggressive yes. I think most people are critical of the video because it just dismisses very valid criticism as if it weren't valid and expresses that the "real bioware fanbase" are people like them, who say something as subjective as that they only care about the series for the story (the enjoyment of the story being very subjective). Personally I just commented that exactly and many people commenting here seem to have the same criticism of the video. Also I just wanna add that we don't have enough grounded stories in "gritty" and "dark" worlds. Personally I only know BG 1 and 2 (and many other "older" crpgs), System Shock, Cyberpunk 2077, Deus Ex, Dragon age (origins, 2 and inquisition), Mass Effect Trilogy, Witcher, Kingdom Come: Deliverance... And yeah thats about it. I think Andromeda was also gritty I guess. If you limit it to fantasy you literally only have the witcher as a recent competitor.

    This whole video reeks of "it's not for you" vibes. I play dragon age 1 and 2, and I play through Mass Effect 1 through 3 fairly often and just like I feel like Inquisition was "bad" not only from the narrative direction, but also from a gameplay perspective (literally they turned it into a grindy mmo-style game with collectibles) and I feel like this will be an inferior version to even Inquisition. Bioware canned their best writers and it shows.

    • @tiberiusvindex804
      @tiberiusvindex804 3 месяца назад

      I agree. I played Dragon Age 1 and 2 through several times but quit Inquisition after getting tired of the grindy MMO crap. The same for Mass Effect Andromeda, it felt like way too much busy work. My only consolation was that I didn't buy them when they came but waited until they were on sale at a serious markdown. If I had paid full price I would have been livid.

    • @dereka5017

      Yeah, I don't get the point of this video. I'm not saying this game is for no one, or that people who want this kind of game are wrong. But this video is pretty much dismissing criticisms, for no reason. Like saying: yeah, you're a Bioware fan, but get lost because Bioware is no longer for you. I still enjoyed Inquisition and Andromeda, but that doesn't mean I don't have legitimate criticisms about them. The prevailing mindset is that Andromeda didn't live up to the greatness of the original trilogy. Should Andromeda's detractors just accept that Bioware "isn't that" anymore? I don't know about this video's argument. lol

By the trailer alone it seems the game will play as a TRUE RPG (unlike this Dragon Age wannabe called Veilguard), it seems really good, it's going to be (very) Dark Fantasy, and the gameplay and storyline look really interesting.

    1:46 "and that isn't what bioware does" blah blah blah.... forget the woke/anti-woke bullshit. Dragon Age was metal. It was dark fantasy. It was romance and harlequin novel crossed with Enter the Sandman and Master of Puppets. There is a gloss to this new entry that makes it feel like bubble gum. It feels wrong.

      If ever there was a time to double down on your existing fanbase, this was it. After a series of missteps, going back to basics and what made the originals great was the move. They literally found the sweetspot between the dumbed down combat of DA2 and the intricate character building of Origins with Inquisition. From what I have seen, this is essentially melee Mass Effect Andromeda's combat system. That works fine for a shooter, but not so much in a game with mages. 3 active skills is a massive nerf, and 2 companions in the party kills the banter. The new art style is also not good, and we are now far overcorrecting diversity in a game that was already pretty diverse to the point we now have asian pansexual amputee elves.

    Meh, really bad expl. is pretty mutch " D.A is a new kind of game now, if you dont like it, go F uself". Wich, ofc is true in some ways, thts why this game is gonna fail on sales. Is not Just the combat, is the "ha-ha jokes" all the time, the lazy writing, the pointless options on dialoge, the plain characters. If this would had been a new game, inserted on D.A world, maybe it would have a different result, but you used D.A name on it, so you should stick to its core values... is like making a Dark Souls that plays like a mario kart, or a burger that is actually a Taco an expecting the consumers to say "i love this new burger".

    Are you seriously trying to make the claim that the story wasn't best in Origins with its choose-your-own-adventure format and high replayability? The people you are claiming that play these games have spoken, look at the dislikes on the trailer and gameplay. They don't want on-rails, no choices and consequences, "comfort games", or any of the rest of the long list of absolute shit that this game is. They want enjoyable gameplay with hot characters, and lots of branching dialogue and story. They want to make their own story, not have it fed to them. It's not about them(the developers), it's about me(the player). I'm the hero(like in the first game), not Solas, or Varic, or whatever other tards they try to make larger than life. It's banal; it's boring, and thankfully studios can't survive on your "comfort game, story mode" fantasy. They will be shut down.
