Thanks for the video. Looks like a great game. We just need a reprint again to get this at a reasonable price.
Just what I was looking for thanks.
The modern board game designers think that a good game is a HUGE game with tones of tokens, big character sheets with a lot of dice or tokens areas with all kinds of upgrades, with complex mechanisms and rule books about 50 pages that feels like giving an exam at college or something, with a bunch of plastic minis, and need about 3-6 hours (or more) to play, coming in a HUGE box you need a dedicated place to store and about 3-4 expansions that adds to all that pile of plastic and paper...... NO! That is NOT what a good game needs. We NEED less tokens, less rules, less complexity, less set up and put in time, smaller boxes that can be stored easily, smaller rule books that we can learn faster, smaller games that we don't have to spend a whole night playing, smaller maps to take less area on the table because we don't have a palace to live in., and lower prices because not everyone in the world makes a $$$$$ every month. And we need more story, more immersion, more atmosphere and theme. More random events to make the games more repayable. Do not base your games in the components but in the feeling of the game. The story and the events. It's like playing a pen and paper RPG. You don't need a bunch of pieces and components. You just need interesting story and events for the people that adventure in your game world. Take a look at Star Trek TOS. So simple and basic in most episodes. Just the story and the events. It's not the "how you did it" more important in the series but "Why you do it".
Awesome video! Question, could you use Eclipse edition one hexes with Eclipse edition 2 in a game?
🤔 Unfortunately, I don’t know. I didn’t own the 1st edition. I know they streamlined some things from the first game. I posted two BGG links I found on the subject. boardgamegeek.com/thread/2700952/how-upgrade-old-eclipse-version-missing-not-too-mu boardgamegeek.com/thread/2023256/eclipse-15th-dawn-galaxy
Insane setup dude
😆 Thanks, it was a lot of fun to set all 4 games up at once.
Which is the best in your opinion for two players.
Ooo, good question. NOT TI4. Eclipse plays well at 2 Empires of the Void plays well at 2 And Xia plays good at 2. The Board Game Nexus has excellent play-through of both Eclipse and Empires. Check out One-Stop Coop for for Xia. It’s a solo game, but I think it will give you a good feel for 2 players
@@cfosburg unfortunately my husband died on me, so I don't have a 2nd player, he will remain forever undefeated at eclipse, been trying to find a group where In spain, but most people seem to be too old or more interested in baking cakes or church groups, and it's a hard pass on the latter, I'd just painted it for him as well, may the collection, anyway thanks for the reply and sorry for bumming you out.
@@nicolajohnson1887 that’s so sad. I’m very sorry for your loss. I hope you are able to find a group.
@@cfosburg Thanks, a game of eclipse and some company would be very welcome, America is probably the place to be for the hobby, I'll let you know how I get on, if Only there was a way play online or something against others
@@nicolajohnson1887 how long have you owned and played Eclipse?
