    Are you not hurting the dog by pulling on the leash Also should she be in a harness.

    You are lucky she must be an Akita cross. Definitely not an Inu. No way for an Inu to do anything that's not necessary like walking right next to the owner at all time. He would sit or throw himself on the ground and refuse to move. Inus won't make much effort for a treat.😂

    Lol they are all different, I used a slip and he just chokes himself with it, mardigale chokes himself, no pull harness he just pulls and walk sideways 😂 full harness pulls like mad, idk I just let him pull now….. he wares himself out pretty quick but man if we are going places all day the pulling does start to ache the Hands, strong little dogs.

    I have a question. My puppy has this issue when I walk him, he doesn’t want to move when it’s time to come inside. He will leave the house fine. It’s my only issue with him. I tried a normal collar it didn’t work he wriggled out of it once (thank god he didn’t bolt), he does it on a harness too. I got a slip lead but he makes a sound when he tries to fight back. I don’t want to hurt him but how can I teach him not to pull he’s four months old now.

      The key is to apply a little pressure with the lead and then as soon as the dog start to walk forward release that pressure fully ! Because if you don’t then it become a tug battle you don’t want that you want the dog to understand if you follow the pressure it actually releases so instead of a tug war it becomes an invite to move in that direction! Hope this make sense!

    Rocco looks just like my boy Arthur, who is 3 years now. This is the best understanding of Akitas I've seen from a trainer on RUclips. Well done. If you are interested in owning an Akita you should study the leash communication in this series closely! By a large margin they are not food driven, people pleasing dogs, and require confident owners who are willing to stick to it all the way.

    Love the video. Very beautiful Akita. I have bought three harnesses so far, but I really like this Julius Harness. My Akita still pulls when I walk him with his harness. I guess he still needs alot of training. Hope Rocco is doing well.

    Any advice for how to stop the slip lead sliding down the dogs neck? When I tighten it behind my american akita's ears it slides down to the bottom of his neck within practically a minute of walking. I've tried tightening it even more, shoving his fur/skin down past the rope and so far nothing is working. My american akita is a puller at the moment so really hoping to improve his walking with the slip rope, but if it keeps sliding down his neck i don't see it working and i can hear my akita gasping harshly by the time we get home. I thought a slip rope would be a solution that wouldn't involve the gasping/choking noises?

      Hi it may be because your slip lead is the wrong fit meaning to thick! And if he pulls so much you need to do more engagement work with your dog! Kind regards Geoffrey Dollé

    Hmm!....shouldn't you be using a prong collar? Over time that would help eliminate the pulling that Akitas and dogs like it tend to do!

      The thing is prong collar are not for every owner this is why I had to use a slip lead for this dog I always make sure to fit the right tool for the owner !

    This video is great however my dog doesn't want to get in the crate at all! When I try to use his lead to guide him in, he resists, and when I put a treat into the crate he only puts his front in to grab the treat with his back legs out, snatches it then comes back out. Have you any advice? I don't want to force him into the crate

    • @geoffreydollebalanceddogtr1669
      @geoffreydollebalanceddogtr1669 3 года назад

      Hi Rachel I would feed the lead thru the end of the crate and get him in that way just put pressure on enough so he understands that the only way to release the pressure is too go forward as soon as he move forward the pressure will release and he will understand to go forward! When he’s done one or 2 step and release the pressure then repeat the process until he goes all the way in ! You can deffo help with treats too!
