He owned lots of homes , he had very good taste
It would be nice if you could pause the pictures longer as there is so much to take in with that beautiful video.. thank you.
Beautiful, peaceful looking too.
Love this house
This video IS NOT Casa de Liberace. This video is "The Cloisters". Liberace owned two homes in Palm Springs. He sold the Casa De Liberace after owning it a few years. This video shoes his other homes called The Cloisters. He died here.
Micheal Jackson IS the King of Pop !!! He is number 1 in my book !!!! He is King !!!! He is thrilling !!!! there is no one like MICHEAL JACKSON !!!!!
Awesome talent
Didn't he die there ?
Yes, he loved this home - he found peace and sanctuary there.
@@susannahleigh26 Yes he died at the home in this video which features his home named "The Cloisters. The video has the wrong title. Liberace sold the Casa De Liberace home and THIS video isn't it
Why did he want so much? What was missing in his heart? Terrible life to live.
I think this house has changed hands since this clip - however, I must say I like what the owner has done while he lived here. Very luxurious, colourful and quite charming - I am sure Liberace would have approved. People have different tastes in decor and I for one love this one.
Bret waterman of DIY's RESTORED is current owner
Sadly, the piano doesn't sound at all like Liberace, just some standard RUclips background music. I suppose you couldn't get copyright permission to use the real thing?
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO.WHAT YEAR WAS THIS VIDEO DONE OF CASA DE LIBERACE?THANK YOU.
I think all his stuff or most of it was auctioned off anf the rest in the Libercae foundation. The movie was filmed in Za Za's home. If Liberace wanted to see deer he should come to my neighborhood, they are everywhere. Liberace's houses were always too much for my taste.
gaudy and sad.
To each his own - this house is anything but gaudy and sad. Many happy times and memories in this house.
Liberace sure new how to live well, how Beautiful : ) if I win the Lotto or make it some how in something? id live in a simular manner and be very generous also...love to give.
U don't need to be rich to make a difference
He was poor his mom was Polish and German
Damn-How does one become a Realtor in Palm Springs anyhow??
Liberace came to Winnipeg Man. about 1972 or 73. He was entertainment at it's finest. He was brilliant on the piano, poked fun at his costumes. Laughter often filled the auditorium.
Blessings!
msp>anecdotes~
I'm sorry you had to defend yourself against the Huns.Know you are not alone.the truth will set you free.xxoo
And the first indication that you are a douchebag was..."Oh,yeah".....;-}
My complete pleasure. Blessings to you!
Thank you Phillip for your anacdotes and obvious knowledge of this wonderful talent.
I keep wondering why someone didnt do something to prepserve his things! its funny..i didnt care for him growing up..then i saw him on here and heard him play and just fell in love with his piano playing! very sad indeed!
I agree. sad.
Wonderfully garish. I bet it was beautiful at night. Very Czar of Russia setting. Thanks for posting the photos. VERY fascinating. Would be interesting to talk to the man.
In his bed room he had Czar Nicholas II's desk!
i keep asking this question..why was Liberace's things..like his belonings and his homes and all that..why wernt they all kept like graceland? it seems so disrepectful towards him to see how his homes sit in ruins and the museums have closed..makes me so sad! you rlucky for the time you had
Thank you. Yes, what you say about Liberace is true. I tried opening the link but it said it was unavailable. No matter. I appreciate that you have messaged me :) Blessings!
Phillip, someone's uploaded it here:youtube com/watch?v=NO5pOnVL_5k Even though I would agree w/you that mr. thornton's motives for writing the book/facts used therein are questionable,i sat through the movie just for the nostalgia of seeing (a representation of) Lee again, much beloved in our household & someone I have always admired & respected since growing up in the late 60's/early 70's.Everyone instinctively knew Lee was 4 REAL, a kind & loving man alwaysCame through. Thanks for all your input
Lady Fairfax held a luncheon for him in her home in 71. A friend of mine was invited and took a nurse with her who had been burned in an accident. When Liberace was told, he asked to meet her. The nun was ushered into the library of the home where he could spend some time with her away from the press and jostling of fans. After her meeting with him, a journalist asked what was he like? The nun replied she only had one other person that she wanted to meet. When asked who, she replied: God!
Troll tube lol! In 1973 when our family went to hear him at the Hordern Pavilion here in Sydney, we had front row seats. My brother came along. My brother was into football, a tough, rough and ready type kid. After the concert, when we came home, I could hear my brother in his room trying to imitate Liberace's voice and speak like him saying : "Well, look me over..." ! As you say, his smile and warmth was infectious. Everyone I came to know who knew him were the same: warm and giving.
that's a really cool story. he seemed to have that effect everywhere he went. even london went crazy. he was a huge star, but people could also feel his warmth. his smile was infectious as well. he truly was a decent person. its really upsetting seeing really hateful comments about him on here, but that's how it goes on troll tube.
You were born in '71? That was the year I first heard him perform live here in Sydney at the Capitol Theatre. My mother took me. His arrival to our shores back then was BIG news. No entertainer, or public figure across the board from Presidents to Princes ever received a welcome by the press like he did. The press called that time here "Liberace mania".
Vince told me Liberace had said one of his last wishes was the he hoped to see some deer. The morning after they arrived at the cabin, Liberace awoke to see a deer at his window! Lovely story!
I watched him in one video doing a radio interview by phone and not letting on to the interviewee he was even remotely ill. He had to be helped down the stairs of the log cabin in which he was staying with Vince and his Palms springs house keeper to take the call to do it. He was filmed during the car journey there - he made gentle jokes so the others would laugh - he was so at peace with everything.
Vince Fronza showed them to me. He was shy and almost retiring as he moved from one guest to another ensuring they were enjoying themselves. He was the greatest showman in the world, treating others like they were the special ones. His gait was almost a shuffle - not the stride you see on stage - he moved with great reverence. I was also shown a video of him just weeks before he died when he was taken to the Pokonos Mountains for a brief holiday. It was heartbreaking.
I hope so. He was the kindest man and he deserves for his life and his legacy to remembered as he so wished. Scott Thorson is presently in prison. Not the first time either. I would think any book about him would be called "Behind Bars". Liberace was my childhood hero, but not for the showmanship - more for his kindness to others. You could see his sincerity in how he carried himself. I saw a few private home made movies of parties he threw for people in his home.
i was born in 71, and i remember him when i was 4 years old. i remember seeing him on tv and thinking he was the best piano player in the world. he was one of a kind. larger than life. the film is definitely from scott thorson's point of view, but in that, its still positive in its portrayal of liberace. it is sad that, like rock hudson, liberace's name became synonymous with aids. i feel that may be changing now, and people are just appreciating what a gift he was to us all.
I saw him perform live twice as a child at around 11 and 13 years of age. The third and final time I heard him live, I was in my early 20s. By then, I had grown away from his style to take up serious classical music and only went because a friend wanted me to take her to hear him. Well, when he walked on stage, it was as if he was giving me back my childhood. I am quite sure there are many others who have experienced much the same magic from him. I doubt anyone will ever capture it in portrayal.
You are welcome. If you care to visit my website, amongst the "Tribute Pages" there's a remembrance I wrote of my time there called "A Sequin of Events". I can share this with you : those never fortunate to have attended a live performance by Liberace will never know of the extraordinary energy he generated from the stage to make each member of his audience feel like he was there just for them. I've have seen many performers in my time, including Michael Jackson. None like Liberace!
thanks for your response. you should see the film! its great. i am pretty sure this house was in the movie. they did a couple of pool scenes, and it did look just like this house.
Hi again : I've actually yet to see the film in its entirety, and I'm not sure I will, but I've heard various locations were used, so perhaps some aspects of the PS villa, like it surrounding grounds etc, did feature. Blessings and best wishes.
I believe the movie was filmed in Zsa Zsa Gabor's Bel Air home.
did they film "behind candelabra" at this house? it looks exactly the same.
Doesn't look like that now......
i'd buy it in a red hot second once I had the money. I love Lee--from my hometown.
Yes, but much of the furnishings you see here are not Liberace's but of the owner who bought the house after Liberace had passed away. I was invited to Palm Springs as a guest of Liberace's friend Vince Fronza after I had played at celebrations honouring Liberace in Las Vegas in the early 90s where I also met his sister Angie as well as Gladys, Liberace's beloved housekeeper. Vince was to become like a second father to me over the years. Blessings!
You stayed there? Wow!
Obvious question, but why wasn't the piano music accompanying this video....Liberace?!
Nice house home, Yet I couldn't stand looking at all the crap inside.
