Tiger is a foreign brand (singapore) the local brands that survived the 90's are mainly san miguel (includes red horse) and gold eagle beer, most real local beers are owned by san miguel corp. Red horse is popular because it is strong, and you get buzzed quickly for the price, but more bitter. San miguel pale pilsen is the more tastier option

Have it a bit toasted (tostado), if it isn't charred well it could be gross. Some vendors clean the insides to get the poop out, some don't. It's a hit and a miss. The vinegar and filipino style bbq sauce masks it well.
