Просмотров 86 тыс.18 лет назад
A Life In Pieces is a series of twelve, five minute shows. Originally broadcast on BBC2 at Christmas 1990. The series features Sir Arthur Streeb-Greebling (played by Peter Cook) being interviewed by Ludovic Kennedy, based loosely around The Twelve Days of Christmas.
thye tyoo hyundryed fooot looong dyaaag
…have yourself a merry little Greebling and a happy Streebling 2024
Hey
Would you mind if I did my second reason first🤣
Good…
Oh Yes of course
These days, we seem to be at a loss for those who know how to use the absurd as a vehicle for humor.
oh no
Somethin rotten... 🤨🧿 🦁❤❤❤🦁❤❤❤🦁❤❤❤ 🐘 🦒 St. Alice, pray for us.
🌹
thank you.
What a freak...I love it.
Haha! How is that even Peter Cook?! Because of the words coming out of his mouth, everything else is unrecognizable, corrupt.
The humane Ludovic Kennedy and comic genius Peter Cook💚💜❤️
One word - Genius
Thanks for keeping these up for so many years, jedpistols.
It's my favourite thing at Christmas..
2020...Peter Cook needed now more than ever.
I love watching this every Christmas, always will, probably.....proobabloo.
Ah, I see you have a smattering or smeetering of Stroob
I watch this every Christmas. Better than Die Hard :)
And I'm back for another round :D Hello younger me!
Jesus H Christ, didn’t know that Boris Johnson modelled himself on the bold Sir Arthur. Both raised by goats, but Sir Arthur makes much more sense.
"They never acutely saw one but naturally they believed in it." This is the story of autobiography.
Or religion.
Peter Cook..........a comic genius !
Delightfully Radio 4Xtra are running the Chris Morris interviews with Sir Arthur. A joy for all of us.
hmmmmmmm....so alone with the Streebster.
Do you have any intelligence of the European Union issue, Mr Cameron? I have a smattering.
back again, season's greeblings and all that. "alingated rocks"?
oh, hey, nice to see me again...same time next year?
Peter Cook makes an error when talking about the Giraffe. As the Romans actually did import african animals to various parts of the Empire, including the Girraffe. They were considered to be harmless creatures, that were peaceful ; roman crowds were appalled when the emperor Commodus slaughtered one in the Colosseum. There is a likelihood that the Picts of what was then Northern Britannia, would have in fact, seen a giraffe. There is a very high likelihood that they would have sighted a ladder too, as the Romans certainly had them, and would have made use of them with those walls they constructed in Northern England. In fact, given the Pictish artworks they have left behind on alingated rocks, it is likely they had ladders of their own.
Emperor Commodus? fancy doing such a terrible thing, maybe they decided to use his name for a crock of shit.
What a beautiful post! I disagree with you on the Picts, but it is good to hear you speak truth to the 12 disciples, is how it's spelt. Keep up the good work.
But the Greebling tribe was subterranean so they would not have aware of anything the Romans were doing.
Apart from ladders, building walls and importing African animals. what have the Romans ever done for us?
good god, yet another year in the crapper...always fine to open the last month with this dainty Cook holiday classic. just a smattering, uh, smüttering of comic genius to make the season palatable.
Quite possibly one of the funniest things I've ever seen - tears rolling down my face.....
once more into the breech of comedy's high-water mark. merry christmas, mr. cook
have been listening to bbc's desert island discs recently. listened to commander sir stephen king-hall from a 1961 recording. he sounds just like streeb greebling! clearly an inspiration for cook. quite uncanny
Excellent
Brilliant classic -- damn thing never gets old
02:03 - Question of faith. Brilliant observation.
@JeffersonToblerone You think a witty person is a great mind. That is your foolishness talking and you're the arrogant one in telling people your idol (quite literally) has no comparison. So Cook now is more brilliant than all the philosophers we've seen. Fack off ya cant.
@evolegnartsrd Cook is really funny but Fry's opinion really doesn't matter.
@lil902 His comedy was not "too high brow" but it was irreverent and funny. I don't consider him a very intelligent person but compared to many idiots out there, yes he was but that's not saying much.
lol
@kafi122 do you have the adult sized child's bike please
We will regret his absence for ever: there a no comics like him any longer, alas. He was really grrrrrrreat !
genius
This is the 3rd year in a row I've watched these videos on xmas eve - thanks again for the upload!
RIP Sir Ludovic Kennedy. A great, great man.
not clever dirty jokes work best when people desperately need a reason to relieve their anxiety.
The days of the comic genius(Peter Cook, Monty Python) etc are alas sadley over. All we have to look forward to today is the likes of Graham Norton whos only comic brilliance is to say "fuck and cock" ect..
So I take it you're unfamiliar with the Peter Cook and Dudley Moore's incredibly profane alter egos Derek and Clive?
What a fantastic programme! Please add the other 10 days of christmas if at all possible......
The reason Ludovic's timing is so spot on is that he was cut in afterwards. He wasn't actually present when Sir Arthur was being recorded.
Sir Ludovic Kennedy (still going strong at the age of 87) is brilliant here, in many ways better in this sketch than even Peter himself. Watch for a second time. His timing is exquisite.
i want my 12 days of christmas with streeb. please upload more vids if you got 'em. "...probably, uh, proobably." totally unique comic genius.
They live in tiny watches, and tell the time with their hands. For the pious buisnessman on the go who needs to keep one eye on clock (and on christ) at all times.
