How wide are your strips?
@@ajourneyoftenyears4020 I use 2" strips on everything but you can make them 1 to 3" for different looks.
I’d like to see how you do your round sheet trivet/rug. I’d love to try my hand at making some of them. 🙂
@@wilmahenry930 I'm going to make a new video showing start to finish. Thanks for watching

What did you make the round thing from is it a hula hoop thanks Vicky
@@rosepedal05 that one is a sturdy embroidery hoop that I found at the thrift store. If you find one make sure it doesn't bend easy. If you want to use a hula hoop then tie 2 together so it's sturdier.
Glad to find your channel 😊❤

@@liadacrause6121 I'm sorry you're having trouble. Is it starting the actual weaving and attaching the weft at the beginning that's causing trouble? I'll try to make a quick short video that shows that part tomorrow after work.

How do you start and end the weft with this technique? Do you tie it somehow?
I tie the weft strip to the last warp with a small knot then weave the end back in. I start it the same. With a small knot. It doesn't show

I've been trying to decide between a twining loom and a peg loom for "regular" weaving. This might be a great resolution to the dilemma! Am I on the right track?
Yes you can use the twining loom for different types of weaving so I think it's better to start with. Besides twining and regular weaving people have made tapestry type pieces too. I have a pegloom that I made and I like but I always go back to my twining loom. Let me know if you have questions
Also if you make or buy your loom get an adjustable one so you can make different size rugs and placemats.
@@robinrongved3592 thank you for your quick replies! I had planned to make it/them adjustable, so I'm doing well on that part of the plan! Do you know of a good how-to for an adjustable twining loom,(for a non- carpenter!)?
I watched a bunch of videos on how to make one then drew a picture of what I wanted. My boyfriend made it from scrap wood and dowels. If you have a saw, drill and screw gun you can do it. I made a video of mine. Also don't forget some kind of legs or stand so you don't have to lean it against something
Here's the video about my loom. ruclips.net/video/JH3XV95tSjE/видео.htmlsi=35QXrhGsP7OfTh42

How wide are your strips
Most people use 3" wide strips but I twine rugs also and use 2" strips for those so I cut evereything 2" wide now.

@@robinrongved3592 thanks a lot
Would you please show the back of it
The back of the loom or the back of the rug?
@@robinrongved3592 the back of the rug
The back of the rug looks the same as the front on these types of rugs. ruclips.net/video/IMsmGOwCrSI/видео.html. Here's the finished rug. Thanks for watching my videos. Making these rugs is really fun and easy
I have a question: To weave over and under, you need an uneven amount of "spokes" or warps, but on your rug, there is a 8 spoke star pattern. How and where do you hide the 9th? Or how do you do it so that you end up with an even (number) pattern?
Hi! The 9th spoke is the fabric strip I start weaving with. So when I pinned that ninth strip on to start weaving it comes out right
It shows it in the first video I made on how to start
@@robinrongved3592 Thank you for this answer. My next question is how you form the 8 spoked pattern with 9 spokes? Where do you hide it or is one of the 8 spokes somehow wider than the other 7? I searched your videos, but for some reason I can only find parts 2, 3, and 4, no number 1. In the second video the start has already been finished and new spokes are being added. Great looking rugs and such neat work! I would like to try here on the other side of the world!
Thank you! I just looked and the first video is a little further down and called how to start a wagon wheel rug.

Thank you for sharing your teachings. This evening, I plan on purchasing the book you mentioned in your previous video. I haven't done any twining, yet. But, my husband and I are about to finish making our twining loom. I've been buying up sheets and fabrics to use from thrift stores and yard sale, and getting them from family and friends. Your rugs, table runners, etc., are all beautiful❣ I was wondering, do you iron the fabrics before using them?
I'm so sorry it's taken so long to reply to your comment! It was a long, busy summer. I hope you've started twining and are having fun! I do not iron the sheets before I cut them into strips. Just wash, dry and fold. Also, if you're on Facebook there's a couple awesome twining pages.
How do you start and finish this type of rug? I’ve done a few and my beginning and ending loops don’t seem tight like my twined rugs.
I wonder if you ran a tight cloth wrapped length of rope down the left and right side instead of the bar holding it straight with nails space a few inches apart down the wood and do the same on the first and last row. Then you could just slip it off the loom?
This is very helpful. Thank you.
Very helpful to learn how to change colors.
This turned out GREAT! Thanks very much for sharing this with us.
Thank you so much!
Yes! This is very helpful. I just ordered that book, too.
