Keep going brother, we need you!
He’s making a serious mistake. There IS a distinction between ceremonial and moral law in Paul’s writings which is he calls the works of the law “obsolete” and not merely insufficient for salvation. Surely Paul does not mean the moral law ( murder, adultery, idol worship, covert, honour mother and father…) obsolete. What Luther and Calvin miss is that faith without works is dead. My works (moral, not ceremonial) do not save me, only Grace through faith in Christ’s sacrifice does. But my lack of work prevents me from obtaining this priceless gift. If “He who can do good and does not has sinned” and I continue to not do good then I am in a deliberate state of perpetual un-repentance. How can I enter the kingdom of God while I’m insisting on committing a particular sin and justifying it to myself and even promoting and preaching it to others rather than struggling against it and repenting from it?
Faith without works is dead.
Amen!
You should have T. David Gordon on to talk about Galatians!
Not sure how any honest person could read it other than the way Dr Schreiner just described.
Isa 61 :2a is the 1st coming of the Lord : To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD. Isa 61b is the SECOND COMING of our Lord: And the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; When were “the days of VENGEANCE”? Lk.21:22 “For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. “These days -were those days 2000 yrs at the destruction of Jerusalem/Temple AD 70. Prophecy given- Prophecy fulfilled !
Genesis 12:1 Called out of the world to be a peculiar treasure Took all their substance and left Ur and came into the land of Canaan. Sarah is a bride married to a type of Christ He built an altar to the Lord - showed the way of salvation- the lamb of God sacrifice who takes away the sin of the world. He witnessed to the heathen Canaanites. He had been called out He was witnessing Famine in the land So he made the decision to go to Egypt and Sarah was beautiful countenance Abraham went to Egypt - no advice from God Doesn’t build an altar Transgression of God’s law Abraham deserves to be punished But the Pharoah gets the plagues Abraham walks out with his wife and all his substance and mega rich Those that acknowledge Him will get the pearl of great price Genesis 20:2 Abraham does it again! They are delivered with great substance Genesis 26:5 Abraham obeyed God’s voice Kept God’s commandments Did he do it that well? No but God knows his heart Romans 4:3 Abraham believed God and it was counted into him for righteousness Galatians 3:7-8 KJV Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. [8] And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. The next typology Must be greater and more detailed than the last one
My ancestors are related to Poythress at jamestown
I appreciate your work brother and as a reformed Westminster teacher I don’t know how this brother’s seminary can contribute to our reformed convictions.
I think Jesus was talking about those trying to save themselves by obedience to the law.
Very helpful insights
We are the temple of the Holy Spirit
The question of the land promises is the central set of promises that determine whether you are a replacement theologian or a biblical one. Ezekiel 40-48 is the litmus test in this matter. God will keep His promises to His covenant nation of Israel, the nation in whom the church is engrafted.
The litmus test is whether one believes in Jesus or not.
Are you familiar with Everett Ferguson’s guide book on the topic of the Rule of Faith? I highly recommend it and I also think as you do that the rule of faith can be very beneficial in today’s Christianity.
Yes, that is a helpful book.
Ehrman should stick to Textual Criticism.
LOTS OF INCEST...THATS WHAT IT SAYS LOL SICK!
100% Cho-mo
Well said! Thank you brothers 🙏
Love it!
Jesus told Hs disciples to be alert.
"The Rule of Faith" is grounded in the Gospel. It is Divine Faith in The Person of Jesus Christ our Lord. The Scriptures are interpreted by the Good News of who He is, the God=Man who fulfilled the everlasting Covenant.
So what? It seems tome that what this really shows is that there is a large number of supposedly modern people whose religious outlook is trapped in a first-century mythological understanding.
There are some who claim that the church didn't view Jesus as God until the 4th century. This evidence contradicts that claim. However, you're correct that it might not be very convincing to people who don't give any weight to the Bible or 1st and 2nd century Christian writers.
everything is explained in the Quran, we believe in the gospel and torah as well. Jesus peace be upon him son of Mary is the messiah and messenger of all mighty God (the one you call the father we worship). Jesus spoke Aramaic which is the most similar language to arabic..
@@AdamL-g7n What difference does it make that Jesus spoke Aramaic? None. Sorry, but the entire "big man in the sky" narrative is simply not a modern sensible way of looking at things. It's primtive superstition. You may as well believe that the stories in the Odyssey are historically accurate. The're not. They're great stories that contain much truth about the human experience, but as far as all that magical stuff, forget it. Same thing with what are unfortunately still living religions. It's understandable that people who are brought up in fear and poverty and ignorance believe that stuff--because it is provides comfort from the objective conditions of their lives-- or those who have been so heavily indoctrinated since birth that they cannot think their way out of their delusion. For everybody else, forget it. It's time for humanity to grow up.
Wonder if he could speak where the regular guy could understand him? I went to college and he is confusing to me.
You have to read up on apologetics and get familiar with some of these terms. It’s not too hard. It was like that in the beginning for me too.
These can be complicated topics! Here is a new video that is not as complicated: ruclips.net/video/T-1bOnHqjKo/видео.html
Have you ever experienced someone who is lying to you about something, and they add a lot of extra detail that doesn't add up, but they want to persuade you to believe their story or side of an argument and yet are not being honest about what is actually written in context? Well, watch this video, and you'll witness that very thing.
Thanks much for letting the mam speak and not interrupting. Great!
DipSensationalism
You say that Adam had the law. Bible says otherwise in Romans five. That ABSENCE of law presents Paul's distinction between Adam and Moses. That eternality of law is your Roman Catholic scholastic assumption. The law was not made for the righteous, but for sinners. And Adam was given one commandment. One. And Adam was not promised righteousness and eternal life for a probational obedience. And Adam's offspring were not promised those rewards for his obedience. And worst is your heretical doctrine that Jesus was obligated to earn our righteousness and eternal life by His active obedience to law.
"he would have obtained THAT REWARD offered to him in the covenant of works". Any Scripture texts for THAT REWARD? Or is the covenant of works only fiction?
"Formal relationship".."Specific CommandSSSS". If this was a formal relationship, might we hope to find that covenant in the Bible? And WHAT SPECIFIC COMMANDSSSS plural? What texts do you have? And this was a two way covenant?
One of the elders at my church recommended *The Returning King* which I ordered and anxiously await for. God bless you both 🙏🏻✝
So if understand you. Do believe in future sacrifices in the temple? Please explain
No because Christ is the final sacrifice.
@@ClarityandBrevity thanks
The blood sacrifices are a memorial--looking back to the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. They also serve to ceremonially cleanse the people and items involved in coming before the Lord’s presence. (Ez 43:19-27) The blood of bulls and goats never took away sin--not before or after the Cross. There is very little death during those 1000 years. Think about it: no war, better food, someone who dies at 100 will be considered a child. Basically edenic conditions brought back. The sight of the burnt offerings will also be a powerful picture to the Jews and the nations that pilgrimage to the temple each year of the work of Jesus two plus millennia before. Keep in mind, in the 1000 year kingdom sin and disobedience still occur. Granted, it seems the special unction of the Holy Spirit given the nation Israel is something more than our current indwelling in this age. They are described as being ABLE to obey perfectly--not removal of free will--makes sense since they are a nation of priests, God’s mouthpiece to the nations. But the other nations don’t have that same Holy Spirit indwelling. In Zechariah we are told delegations from all nations must come to Jerusalem annually to worship and keep the feast of tabernacles--no doubt burnt offerings with blood are included. If they DISOBEY God will punish them with drought and PLAGUE. Sin will be present, but as in Old Testament it will be dealt with swiftly. The picture of the believing little flock dwelling in Jerusalem in divine communism in Acts 2-3 was a small picture of kingdom conditions. The inclusion of the incident with Ananias and Sapphira shows two things: sin can happen, but the 12 judges on the twelve thrones will have perfect knowledge, even to the reading of people’s minds, and judgment will be sure (death) and swift. That will certainly have the effect of keeping the sin nature at bay!!!
First Marvel reference on the channel? Guess I'll have to go back and rewatch everything.
"Paul does nothing but explains and expounds the kingdom proclaimation of Jesus"💡 What a pioneering insight from Ridderbos 🎉 I absolutely love this ❤
Is it ok to say the resurrection is God's intended purpose for the death of Christ, not just His approval on its efficacy 🤷🏻♂️
Depends on the preacher tho 😂
Simple and clear ❤
I love this ❤
pffffffff jesus again?
The Book of Revelation is apocalyptic not estacalogical as the title of the Book states as well as the the Greek text.
Always interesting to hear about the enlightenment from those who were there in the beginning. "A strong period of doubt" being a kind of pre-requisite of enlightenment is still with us today. To me, it's ironic that many people say Van Til is an enlightenment man when you hear these kinds of things. VT appealed to Scripture as the most rational basis of thought - what can be more anti-enlightenment, even if VT uses Kant's terminology sometimes?
Darby was not the first dispensationalist. Long before Darby, the apostle Paul was a dispensationalist.
True, two dispensations.
This age and the age to come. "This age" being the present evil age, and "the age to come" being the eternal state.
Thank you! I am new to covenant theology and these new insights are very helpful ! I am also reading Harrison’s book right now! Blessings
I am fairly new to Covenant theology, thanks for making it so clear to me!
🎯
I love this, thank you for your clear teaching.
The principle of "form and substance" rooted in the Gospel helps the reader of the Old Testament determine what the current forms of the day direct the believer's attention. To "know God in Christ, the fulfillment of the everlasting covenant," is the purpose of the types, the forms of the one substance, which is the person, Christ Jesus.
