I remember our grandpa taking us to a little country store in Aline GA in the early 60's. It was a general store like Ike Godsey's in the Walton's. I remember a single light bulb suspended from socket and wire. There was a cast iron heater in use during the winter but it was fueled with wood. Grandpa would buy each of us a coke and a pack of Tom's peanuts. We would drink a little the coke and pour the peanuts in the bottle. I swear it's still one of the best treats I have ever had. I love the small historic stories like this.
I love these history stories of our local area. Thank you for creating BEHIND THESE WALLS for us to enjoy!
Thank you for following us! We love that you enjoy our series.
I bought my first chickens 2 years ago. I hadn't had any since our family had some when I was a kid, and I'm 59 now. I have 6 Gold Laced Wyandottes and 8 Buff Orpingtons. They're great birds and we are getting more eggs than we can eat.😆 I give away 18 packs to my daughters every month or two. Chesterfield, VA
I’ve never had chickens, we’re moving this summer… hoping we find a place with property where we can have them. But while watching endless videos, I’ve been seeing “honesty stands” quite a bit. Have you thought about doing that? Where you put the extra eggs in a cooler each morning, in a stand out in your yard, with a locked cash box, and have the community stop by and buy your extra eggs from it?
I am some random woman in Edmonton, Canada, and this video was just recommended to me after watching an influencer video, someone that I watch now and again. I have no idea why this would be recommended next, but I LOVE it! Good job youtube algorithm. First comment, and only 11 views right now!
Awesome. We, too, are pleased with the algorithm!
Fantastic!

I went to kindergarten in this house!
Very interesting! Eye opening and informative. My family farmed throughout Isle of Wight, Southampton, Franklin areas.
Wow! that was a ton of information and history; so very interesting.
What a wonderful piece of lost treasure. It's very frustrating when politics get in the way of preserving history..
Thank you for this video. I have been working on my ancestry and have discovered that many of my relatives are from Isle of Wight and surrounding areas. It looks like they made their way over to Petersburg, Richmond, and Chesterfield, which is where I live. My last name is Bland.
Wow! So glad I stumbled upon this video while researching my past relatives from that county. My last name is Bland, but I have other family from IoW of other last names. I love the history as I can see how my family lived. I know some were part of the Civil War. Thanks for the interesting video!
What kind of parents name their kid Elmer ????
Thank you grandpa Mack! 🫡Happy late birthday! Here’s to 105!!😂

Very Cool!
Just lovely! Christopher Holliman is my 8th g-grandfather, it was so nice to take the tour!
