I just want to point out that Sting is singing "Never ending or beginning, on an ever-spinning reel"... I think a "third wheel" in succession also removes some complexity from the riming.

So simple. Just a song about missing your lover. So complex. Just a song about everything ever. And it's all true.

Comment from Japan. There are three mistakes in this lyrics. 1, minutes on it's face...should be on its face 2, to a tunnel of it's own... should be tunnel of its own 3, walking allong ...should be along.

Sting's version is beautiful, yes. But nothing surpasses the original, sung by Noel Harrison in 1969

I have to say that Sinne Eeg sings my favorite version of this song, except for Noel Harrison. There are certain songs that hit me hard the first time I hear them and are so indelible that other versions can’t compete, and this song is one of them....and I was only about 8 years old when I first heard it.
