AKC Utility B competition obedience - Cricket's third and final leg
The only video I have of Cricket getting a Q in Utility. Some parts of this are not pretty (she was achieving new heights in her thousand-yard stare at the article pile) but by some miracle we qualified and that was the completion of her obedience career!

Score was 99. He was such a good boy, and this was a perfect first show. Loved the calm and quiet atmosphere.

Cricket didn't take the jump so this run was an NQ, but I am so proud of her for staying on task the whole time and doing all the other exercises correctly (okay, heeling needs some work. Turns out she relies on a voice command). She hasn't been in the obedience ring for over a year, and these are exercises we've never taken into a ring.

It didn’t feel like a perfect 100 score to me, but I’ll take it. Cricket is not completely comfortable in this location, but despite not giving full focus in the ring she still kept up with all the different exercises!

Cricket earns her CDX title at the Emerald Dog Obedience Club show. Qualifying legs and first place both days, with scores of 185 and 193. Both times she got dirt in her mouth which bothered her...

I was proud of her regardless. She is all "homeschooled" and I don't have an obedience type high jump to practice with so it wasn't a big surprise to me that she didn't take it. I am just glad she was able to do all the exercises without getting too distracted. :)

For practicing when out and about I have discovered that curbs are very useful! I had to teach Cricket a kick-back down for this exercise to keep her front feet in one spot. The sunlight sure makes her drool obvious...!

This was at the golden retriever specialty in Albany. I'm very happy with how she did, especially considering the packed dirt was an unexpected surface and something she has had trouble with in the past!

She was pretty disconnected but did all right anyway. I can't blame her as we had been waiting for a long time and she was ready to get out of there! Not sure what our score was, I think the judge forgot to tell us but just said that we and the other team in Master got the same score.

First match and first time doing a Master course. I really liked the casual atmosphere, helped keep my ring nerves down. Great to get some practice with the new signs. Cricket did pretty well I think, though she didn't respond very quickly to either of the back up exercises even though that is usually one of her better skills. But she got the send away sit no problem!
