Gallowtree gate was not gutted until the early 70's, not the 60's. I worked there until 1970 at Marshal & Snelgrove.

can tell it's 1998, there are still some white people walking around. A most interesting video of historic leicester, need to make more of them whilst these old buildings remain, as the council will soon demolish them as they don't care about history......unless of course it's asian history they choose to invent

Approaching Leicester on the Welford Road, there is, what looks like an old railway Bridge abutment, behind The Ford garage opposite Almond road. Am I to believe Almond Road once led to a bridge to the cemetery?

Unbelievable the way they just disrespectful regarded the past history old buildings so so so Sad clueless dumb leadership in power again the Mayor's of Leicester thought solely of themselves, the British government is very much to blame should have had laws in place to stop old building being torn down of such age . have architects that could plan around such old buildings. that way I feel England could be so much of a pround place to offer the rest of the world and the people within British a more self identity of history to be proud of . What a shame you'll killing the past .

Leicester born and bred. This video has taught me a lot about the history of the city. I miss the Silver Arcade. I used to go there every Saturday as a kid to buy comic books.

There’s also the Highcross monument at the end of Bumblebee Lane, south of Sharnford. It marks the junction of the two major Roman roads, Watling St. and The Fosseway.
