I can not as an individual determine nor calculate my own intelligence. However, I will say I prefer solitude as my views of society, in summary, have only soured as I have aged. Thus, I would rather be alone than waste anytime listening to the countless echo chambers regurgitated through the voices of the common people.

Is it really “intelligence”? The more a person learns about the world, labels, social construct demands…it is simply easier (nothing to do with being a great intellectual) to see past the superficial reason to be social just to be social.

Schopenhauer was reflecting on society in the early Industrial Revolution period when the country culture was being sucked into the growing metropolis of every European country. As a species, we have adapted over 250 years on how to be in such places. These new urbanities started off exciting and full of possibilities. whoever you might be. In the early 21st century being on your own is a strange luxury and the mob grows exponentially.

I went away from being extroverted. I am now a full blown introvert who doesn’t even talk to friends or engage in activities with family. Guess I’ve grown use to the isolation and it’s what I desire. I’ll also point out that when things aren’t going well, this is when people tend to close themselves off. In the end I’ve come to the understanding that nobody cares and that we come into this life alone and we die alone. God bless

It's not just a matter of intelligence. If you have an affinity for truth over dogma, it's isolating. If you point out that the emperor has no clothes, thinking it's obvious, people will get mad at you. They will say things like, "Your dehumanizing women" or such nonsense, when you say some basic fact of biology and phycology--A fact so basic that even AI will say it if asked. We all know AI is censored, which is why I say that. Maybe being more intelligent leads someone to see the emperor has no clothes. Maybe a higher intellect doesn't allow the dogma in.

It's hard being like this and also craving social interaction. The feeling that authentically connecting with people is so hard, that you are so disconnected from the trivialities of your surroundings is a very hard burden for one to bear. For that reason my heart goes out to everyone who lives like this. You are not alone, no matter what. There are few who are brave enough to embrace this life, and who bare many fruits which people with normal lives cannot.

I think I'm demonstrable proof that you hardly have to be a genius or in any way "superior" to find such conclusions about humanity and its societies to be pretty obvious. The more beneficial trait is legitimately not requiring much from society or other people, so that you do not find any downsides to being apart from others. If you are genuinely happy without people around, solitude can be bliss! But that isn't an excuse to imagine oneself smarter than anyone else. That's just desperate egotism.

It's not in terms of intelligence imho, but instead how you grew up and what you need. Some people need many things, some less, like drama. Or they have to be doing something at all times. It's really just a different personality group, and that's about it. But I can't pretend a person cannot change to extrovert of vice versa

I’m not sure that I’m especially intelligent in the grand scheme of things, but I’m pretty smart and somewhat well-educated. I will say I prefer solitude because I don’t like to be around a lot of people most of the time. I’m also embarrassingly awkward when trying to make small talk. It’s exhausting. Now, get me into a deep conversation exploring all kinds of crazy ideas, and I am able to blither blather for hours. Not 100% sure about my facts or logic, but it’s energizing to me. On the occasion when I’m able to do that, I’ve learned there are so many intelligent, thoughtful people out there if you can find them. They are teachers, and keep me from thinking so much of myself.

I mean, tell me something i dont know. Are those who come here merely affirming themselves? Or is it meant for the small person, to try and attatch something to, so that they may believe themselves to be genius? I find people's childish obsession with intelect quite stupid. In this age what is the point? Those who hold vast knowledge and experience are no longer seen as someone to aspire to, instead we ideologues and people who think their feeling of the matter overwrites objective fact. Nobody cares what anyone really has to say, and id think deep introspective types, know when someone is worthy of knowing their thoughs and feelings. I can almost say, if that were consistently the case, it means many of our best minds, are walking far out of sight and unseen by most. Thus a society isnt benefitting from its best but its most ideological and oppinionated. So much potencial is lost in our age.

Schopenhauer's use of the words "superior" and "mediocre" sounds like some ego-driven need for self-validation. The more intelligent someone is, the more aware he/she becomes that every strength is matched by an equally great weakness in another areas. Those who can balance rational and emotional intelligence are better off than anybody who is the best at only one of them.
