Big plans I love it!!
Guys like you and Brian keep raising the bar. I gotta do something once in awhile :D
@@gryftkin 😂
No one can keep up with how hard Brian works.
Wow! You've done some planning, Edward. Good on you! :) Thanks for the update. I haven't thought that far ahead. LOL For Wednesdays, you can call them "Whatever Wednesdays". Just an idea. ;)
I've been on here for almost three years... I should start planning at some point :D
Awesome month! Thanks again for inviting me on.
Any time!
Gosh, I keep coming across Service Model on Booktube and I just have to crack down and get myself a copy! :) I hear only good things about it. I'm not usually one for Science Fiction, but I did like Project Hail Mary surprisingly, so perhaps there's hope for me. Great review - thanks!
I think what puts it over the top is it's one of the few robot centric novels that DOESN'T go for the sentient robot/AI with the feels. And I absolutely LOVE that trope, but it was nice to see him go a different direction.
I'm surprised I hadn't subscribed to your channel! I couldn't agree more about some romantic fantasies. "Oh no! Are we doomed," she screamed as she drooled a bit over his pectoral muscles glistening in the fire's light. LOL.
Pretty close 😂
Had such a great chat my brother and I just have to say I think you have that big Ed Energy and it is off the chart! No way I can compete!
LOL - I'm definitely an extrovert, but we could argue all day who has more energy so I'll just say it's Brian Bell ;)
@@gryftkin I’d buy that!
What was the name of that dragon fantasy book? The Sky on Fire? Sounded really interesting.
Yep, The Sky on Fire by Jenn Lyons. ruclips.net/video/8L7twxfHfk8/видео.html
@@gryftkin Thanks 👍 onto the tbr with it
There is a big big Dumas/Cristo moment in Hobb’s Royal Assassin ! Let me know when you hit it. Also Philip Chase confirmed to me that Erickson was a big fan of Dumas ( there is a planet named after him…I noticed that structure of Cristo sounds like what people say of Malazan. I have the first 3 Malazan books downloaded and will read them with John in February.
Ugh... my TBR just groaned and threw a paperback at me...
Thanks a ton for the invite and the party can’t wait to talk again!
Had a blast... and the wife was reading a good book so I managed to get to bed before she turned off the light :D
@@gryftkin perfect!
Ok, guys... that was quite a list last night. Should I post the book recs in the description or just make y'all watch the whole thing? ;)
you can just make us watch it :)
@@joycetarsek3208 😅😅
Great interview! Already got both of those books, but will have to check out that time travel novella and Emma Newman too
Thanks... yeah, Adrian did not do my TBR pile any favors :D
Fantastic interview
Thanks. Malerman was an excellent guest. I've decided I'm inviting more horror authors :D
Your review has me intrigued….I will check it out, thanks.
I hope you enjoy it. I'm torn between it being really good the way it is and so wanting to see what happens next :P
This so sounds like my jam!
I'm loving Service Model more, but this one was good too. He's got like 5 books out this year. I can't even imagine how he found time to come on the channel 😂
@@gryftkin he is a very busy dude.
Great interview my friend
Thanks. Great guests make me look good 😁 Adrian was so gracious.
What a great trip! I went for my 50th years ago and loved it. I get the narrow and the roundabout.
Only once have I tried to get in on the wrong side of my car since we got back :D

Long Live Evil rules!
Vaaaaaacaaaaation!!!!!
Long Live Evil was everything I didn't expect it to be in all the right ways. Can't wait to see where this story goes.
I can see you!
IKR - stupid settings 😂just glad I got something figured out before the interview tomorrow :P
Still hard to believe one of my favorite authors was my first interview. I had zero cred at this point 😂
Nice to see all that you do! ☮️💚
Thank you! Would love to have more interviews but with a full time job, I try to limit it to one a month to make sure I have time to give each author the attention they deserve.
New Place. All new to do list. I can relate.
So much to do... and so little time to do it in :D
@@gryftkin that’s life. That’s what all the people say.
One of my favorite series I’ve read, books are simply too good.
She blew me away when she said this was set in the same universe as A Chorus of Dragons. Can't wait to see how that pans out (although this can totally be read as a stand alone, so far).
I saw this pitched as "Dragonriders of Pern for modern audiences." I take it from your reciew they mean it's more like Game of Thrones?
No, it was more the feel of the "low earth" sections that reminded me more of The Olympian Affair. There are way more dragons (and way less politics) than GoT. It's all about the dragonriders, but they're not under fire from "thread" or anything like that. The closest thing to politics is amongst the dragons themselves. I feel like it stands on it's own, but the publishing industry really likes to liken a book or author to another bestselling book or author you already know :D
@@gryftkin to me it sounded like "we took this book everyone knows and loves and we fixed it!" Not a good pitch, regardless of what they meant.
you are just to busy of a dude my friend!
I know, right? Will be so worth it when it's done though. :)
New digs can't wait!!
Can't wait to have an office where I don't have a closet door as my backdrop :D
@@gryftkin gonna be awesome!
More than a chuckle! You got me with a full on crack up.
Glad you enjoyed. That's what I was aiming for :D
Thank you for the review. In answer to your question about the two series, it's more complicated than that. I write about a community of characters that appear in The Life We Bury. Boady Sanden, the lawyer in TLWB has a minor role, but he has two books of his own, one of which, Nothing More Dangerous, was written before TLWB, although it was my 6th to be published. Sometimes the characters appear in each others' novels, for example, Boady and Max are co-protagonists in The Heavens May Fall, with Lila Nash as a minor character. Lila has her own story, The Stolen Hours. I just found these characters interesting and wanted to tell their stories going forward. With that said, my next novel, The Quiet Librarian (out Feb, 18 2025) will have none of these characters in it. Hope that answers your question
Anyone ever mention a question in a video and actually have the author respond? That's kind of cool :D So this is more of a "shared world". Digging it. Definitely going to have to read some more. Also, just realized I said 'digging it' and have definitely dated myself (in case the grey hair didn't give it away).
“Hope to finish it by the end of the year…” am I correct in hearing that as he won’t finish writing it till the end of the year 2024 and then hand off to editors and publisher?
While the original interview was in November of 23, based on his website information (providing it's up to date ;) ), I do believe he was referring to 24 when he said "by the end of the year". So I'm guessing we might see the book sometime in 25. Fingers crossed :)
Sorry about the audio in a couple of parts. Still fiddling with the audio. Might need a new mic. Or a new computer. Or a new voice :D
DOH! Elizabeth Hand, not Emily Hand. Bad booktuber, bad!
6 books nice! Ready for that next Dresden.

favorite book?
For THIS week? The Rage of Dragons. All time? The Count of Monte Cristo :)
Well, thanks RUclips for making THAT the thumbnail :D Can we allow shorts custom thumbnails now? :D
Loving shogun adaptation after just finishing the book in Feb!
I REALLY want to read the book... but then I look at my TBR and think what a chonker it is (not to mention part of a series) :D
Ugh, sorry Brian. It was 7 AM. I don't know why I said your name wrong :P
sounds like an interesting book!
It definitely was. Definitely more fiction than science though :D
Just finished my read. Lots to process. Thanks for your review!
Glad you enjoyed it? Or, at least, hope you enjoyed it :D I had mixed feelings at the end of that book but decided that, over all, it was good :)
I scored it bit higher but I think we were on the same page on this 1.
Yeah, it's one of those where I think if I'd READ it instead of listened, I might have bumped it up to a 3 (nothing against the narrator, it was the nature of the book) which is the only reason I bothered to actually do a review of a "below 3". I'm guessing it's probably a 3 or 4 for a lot of readers. It was a miss for me, but not by much.
@@gryftkin I am fan of her short fiction so I was surprised it was a bit of miss for me as well.
Over 2 hours? Can I survive this?
It's shorter than the last Dune movie :D
Yay thanks for the interview, your questions where great. I love all of these books! I think that Vespertine was my favorite. The world building was phenomenal. I cannot wait to read more from Margaret Rogerson. Also I love to hear about her hobbies and that she is a gamer. I am also a World of Warcraft player. Blood elf Frost mage here 😆
Thanks for watching. She was a blast. My kids ("kids", they're in their 20s :D ) introduced me to her and Vespertine just drew me right into the story. She's also a huge Martha Wells fan, so we have that in common :)
