K24a2 Frank RX8 progress, parts, and more??
We finally got the small engine setbacks fixed. New lost motion springs, crank gear, rear main, and front timing cover. Then we looked at a new part that just came in. This turbo manifold will make life wayyyy easier down the road and is a great option for rwd k swapped cars with nit a lot of room. Worth every cent!!

We made the leap and got the #k24a2 in the #rx8 . It took some time and careful trimming, but it fits. now we have to look at the firewall notch kit from sas and trim a bit more around the engine!! #kswap #k24 #k20 #vtech #honda #mazda #engineswap #trackcar #racecar #timeattack #gridlife #turbo #kswaptheworld #sasauto

i just got a rx8 and i really want to do the swap its less than half the price of k swapping my miata but people keep telling me the canbus will fight and it wont be able to pass inspection. have you thought of a way to make them speak to eachother? will the ecu master ecu and harness you got let them communicate? i dont really care for the inspection i can get around that but itd be nice if the car acts as normal as possible with the wrong motor lol
Any estimate on what it would cost to do the swap, bare bones running driving. Trying to plan what i want to do if/when mine blows up, unknown compression and 170k miles. Considered saving for parts to rebuild the renesis but i feel for the price of that i should just piece together a k swap
why wouldnt they just make a kit that moves the engine and box forward so u don't need to cut the firewall
Well with the trans, your shifter wouldn’t line up anymore and the driveshaft would need to be longer. Plus if you just used a spacer between the trans and motor the input shaft would be too short

how reliable is the Rx8 6 speed transmission... does it work well with the K swap?

That type of header gaskets never worked for me when running a turbo. I've have had no issues with multy-layer metal ones. Or maybe my manifond is warped or something.
We haven't tested it yet. It was a spare I had laying around!! I'll double check!
Sick manifold for sure. 60mm prolly best for waste gate to prevent boost creep!

I am once again thinking about doing this, glad I found someone that actually has more input on the swap than just showing before and after and explaining it that way.

@Level_Up_Nation depends on the length, height, and weight. People throw 6.2l iron blocks in these so I doubt it would be an issue. Main problem is the newer electronics. Complex and sensitive. But I think if someone finds one and has an RX8 go for it!
Do you change the gearbox??
Yes,we are going with a Japanese RX8 5mt. It has almost the same internals as the FDs. Much stronger than the 6mt and gearing is wayyyy better for racing!
