To roll and tip is to apply a thin coating with a roller and then go over it lightly with a brush, using just the bristle tips to smooth the coating and remove the bubbles. The coating can be paint, epoxy, or varnish, but for the purpose of this article we'll focus on paint.

The Editor shares he has developed a pretty good system for getting his lapstrake rowing canoe to the water. The canoe alone is pretty heavy, close to 80 lbs, and with the sliding seat, outriggers, and oars aboard, it tops 100 lbs, a lot more than he wants to lift all at once. The Caledonia Yawl II has plenty of room for sailing with the whole family, especially with the open configuration. The decked version limits the cockpit area but provides covered storage areas and built-in flotation. The side benches provide a place to secure inflatable flotation like boat rollers or, in this case, a collection of fenders. The kick-up rudder blade is an option that makes beach...

excellent idea. No holes drilled!
Beautiful job on this boat... I ordered the 15 plans and thinking on starting soon
Thanks for the video. The sand paper jig is a great idea. Well done. If you have time, another one minute video on changing the paper would be much appreciated.
he rows a bit funny, great looking boat
Good simple idea....other sleds are too complicated and there are screw holes in the wood...what brand blade works best? 3TPI?
Beautiful job!!!
I like it, gotta build me one, many thanks for sharing your ideas.
Best one I have seen.....
Ideal tiny boiler 👍
Another one in the bag.
... And this sound ! :-D
I have spent about an hour looking for resaw jigs to buy and to make. Your configuration is hands down the best I have seen. Simple yet very effective, great idea on the double hole set. Thank you very much for the share.
Love the Bustard Islands. It has been awhile since I've been back but nice to see Tom's clips! They are a great inspiration to get back there soon! Be fun to cross paths! Best/Roy
I made myself a similar one with type clamp, Works Great, Thanks
Sweeet!
Please, CLC, design and market a 14' version of this boat. I really think it would sell.
The 3rd one should be mounted on a kid's train
Very nice DIY Cat!!!
He does nice work!
LOL !
I agree the most interesting thing here are the stands themselves for their functional aesthetics alone worth the candle.
Which sailed better? The sail with or without the lower spar?
Amazing great sculling movement, even without the ScullMatix !
Perfect way to creep into the creaks! Cozy little boat!
Great video what what size of bandsaw should I buy for this a 9 or 10 inch
I really like this jig. Have you made one longer? I'm wondering what the practical length of this could be, if I have two people to work it? This idea is so simple compared to some of the other more complicated jigs. Any limitations to this? Has it worked for slightly curved logs? Longer logs? Thanks
wow cool
Brilliant idea using the pipe clamp.
thank you
Have plans?
Looks like great fun! Nice view of Mystic Seaport too!
I think they're called mud shoes.....
Someone has been reading the Swallows and Amazons, I think this is done in Secret Water.
Nice boat!
1:22 pissing clam...lol
The 130 hz horn is also for the Colorado Avalanche's goal horn
Beautiful boat.
Hi, Tom! Love your writing. 👍 And I believe you have joined the League of The Retired, as I have, also, recently. Congratulations!
I'm not sure what I just witnessed.....
so impressed by Chris' attention to detail. that even the folding coracle fits so nicely without taking up any room. He may have in fact created the world's most perfect family boat.
BONZO looks like a great way to spend some time! Thanks.
love it!
That is a really cool little boat. I wouldn't mind seeing a video with more detail about the build. I saw the cassette toilette in the cockpit while the pilot was in the cabin. Is there a provision where the toilette would fit into the cabin and still be usable?
Three out of three for injin uit ee
It must be tricky working the oars between the narrow passages! Well done! Best/Roy
Thanks for this video. I'm embarrassed to admit I ordered these oarlocks 2 years ago (with oars too!), but I haven't gotten around to installing them on my boat. Mainly because I was trying to visualize where I should sit in the boat. The center of balance shifts as your video shows. I'm looking forward to the article. I don't have inwales on my boat, so finding the right spot to mount the mechanism is trickier. It looks like you can shift their position using the inwales, so maybe I should do that first.
