I remember first seeing this on a railway course. I was given some basic training on this subject as a union rep. Unfortunatley in the job, I had to attend fatalities on the line. It effects so many people. The family of the person and everyone that attends. The train driver is also effected. Some get over it, some never drive again. One persons action impacting on another life and others. I found it hard to get over and is still with my now that I have retired. This world could be a better place if more people cared.
It can be very easy to fall into the pit of despairs where there only appears to be one way out. Well done Jimmy for supporting Neil to find the other way...he didn't just save Neil's life, but changed what would have been a devastating future for his family and friends.
They are they are usually undercover or like regular workers, I met one at chester le street and she was lovely and bought me a train ticket back to Durham after I told her my interest on trains
I actually know the number for the Samaritans off the top of my head. It's displayed at many train stations across Great Britain - I learned it after seeing it on the safety fencing on platform 7 at Wimbledon train station. (Wimbledon is a station I use a lot, as I have a lifelong local connection to the area.)
so i take the train to london around two, three times a week. i have suffered with depression and anxiety for around ten years now. sometimes it does scare me that i might have a suicidal episode when i’m waiting on the platform. i feel like i risk it every time i’m there. thank god for people like this man. i’d be very grateful if someone like this was looking out for me & checking if i’m okay.
It sounds as if Jimmy has had some very good training. What's more is, that this is scene as a mental issue and that there are no real attempts to criminalise the person in question.
We've all got our demons. The poor, the rich, the employed, the unemployed, the married, the single, .... Teenagers with hormones raging around their bodies have a particularly tough time. A kind word, gently asking "Are you OK ?", offering a cuppa and a chat can go a long way towards helping someone beat their demons back.
Oh, this is so touching. Especially the bit where Jimmy confronts the poor fella and takes him for a cuppa. Well done, Jimmy and I hope that man got the help he obviously desperately needed.
So glad Neil was able to get help the rail guy is a hero he really is I had a tear in my eye so sad. Remember to anyone going through this you’re not alone do speak to someone b it a family member friend doctor or even pass a by or pet. You have people that love you and will support you in any way keep smiling sending hugs to anyone who lost loved ones through suicide may they rest in peace Xx

Looks like Purley to me - you can see the old Class 455 Southern train at 3:33. For the record, when he said Victoria, he didn't mean Manchester Victoria, he meant _London_ Victoria.
The staff at railway stations are a total blessing they put me in touch with the samaritans if it was not for the help I would not be here today myself I found it very helpful to have someone else to talk to.
"It's just getting on top of me, I can't take it anymore" I started crying.

Thank you. You save lives and you are appreciated by people around the world ❤
Thank you Jimmy.

Very moving. A valuable lesson to all of us.
Hats of man helped we need more helpers at station as life is awful 😔
Wonderful that Network Rail has such a strong culture of care 👏 👌
This is unreal, 99% of the stations don't have this, they're messy full of people and there's no time to control any of this.
They are they are usually undercover or like regular workers, I met one at chester le street and she was lovely and bought me a train ticket back to Durham after I told her my interest on trains

Fair play Jimmy. Well done.
Not only a platform manager, but an absolute gent is what you are
yeah well done on doing what you get payed for
God bless you for saving that mans life and preventing the people around him from being traumatised from any disaster that could've happened.
I assume that this was in the UK, based on the accent?
Tory government be like,"nah we don't need station staff just use an app"
Better to have a cuppa than be mush
Great work from platform staff, a great example of why any tory staff cuts on the railway must be fought. Staff save lives.
Top man Jimmy
Imagine a world with all poeple like this ❤

Well done Jimmy, you are a man with compassion
Great guy. This is what stunning and brave actually is, not what the modern media paints it as.
I just love the station staff member who comforted the bloke, he was so nice, he should be a station psychologist

Wow.. you are an amazing man.
This is the Stockport railway station
Looks like Purley to me - you can see the old Class 455 Southern train at 3:33. For the record, when he said Victoria, he didn't mean Manchester Victoria, he meant _London_ Victoria.
I hope this man is still alive and well

The staff at railway stations are a total blessing they put me in touch with the samaritans if it was not for the help I would not be here today myself I found it very helpful to have someone else to talk to.
