We start very early in the morning with our arrival in Tasmania. Lisa from @ShadyTreezStitchers sings you a song about a pub - which is hilarious. We find some very atmospheric scenery and we meet a cute little native animal. We drive through some quaint towns and get to meet our friends at A Stitch in Time, in Hobart. #tasmania #roadtrip #spiritoftasmania #flosstube

Loop start and Loop finish for cross stitch
I learned the loop stitch from this video, about 10 months ago. It truly astonished me to learn a new cross stitching technique after stitching for over 40 years! Now I'm here to learn the finishing techniques! I noticed that you do your first stitch in the cross stitch backwards from how I do it. Then, I suddenly knew why! You live in Australia where many things are reversed compared to the way things are here, near Seattle, Washington, USA! Your toilets swirl opposite from ours, you have Christmas in the summer, etc. That must be the reason for doing your stitch so different from the way I do it! Lol, lmao!
These techniques are truly amazing! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. I can’t wait to try this all out, it will make my stitching even more enjoyable wow.
My loop finishes always come loose unless I do a pin stitch after
Late to the game here; just learned about loop start with 1 thread. Trying to learn how to do it with more threads. For the last stitch you do, how many threads are you using? And thanks for the video!’
It doesn't bother me
I tried to doing a Japanese girl in a green dress

Very informative, thank you so much
Please show us the back of the work as I wonder how the tails look on the back. Do not be discouraged by cars and planes going by. Most of us do not live in a silent world.
Can you do a pin stitch on linen?
i find sometimes my loop doesn't get pulled throught and i'll end up with a bump of thread. Any hints?
OK - I am sitting here with my chin on the floor!! This is going to make my cross stitching life SO MUCH EASIER!! Thank You!!
I’ve been cross stitching for almost 40 years, just learned the loop start about 4 years ago. Total game changer. Can’t wait to see the loop finish.
Thank you so much for showing the loop method. I'm starting cross stitch again after about 30 years and I haven't heard of this before. IT's going to be a game changer. Thank you!
Who would have thought I would learn something new after 50+ years of stitching 😱. I had never heard of a loop finish. Thanks for teaching me something new.
This was great demonstration, thank you.
Beautiful finish, and wonderful wips😊❤
Thank you!
Why do you do the pin stitch so far away from the loop stitch?
Hi Connie 👋 great question! It only looks far away because of the magnification. I do the pin stitch so that the future stitches that are coming will be stitched over the tail on the back. So it performs like an away-knot, only neater.

Will you be singing at the Opera House for the Christmas concert? My husband and I are hoping to get tickets when we’re in Australia in December.😊
Yes I will! The program is looking awesome. That concert sells very well so book your tickets early.
@@NittynatStitches Do you know when tickets will go on sale? We’re watching the website 😉
@lynnxstitchescreates they’re on sale already through the Sydney Opera House website. Search for Carols at the House. 👍🥰
@@NittynatStitches woo hoo🎉 I was able to our tickets! 😃
Which concert are you coming to?
Loop finish?! I’m so happy! Thank you!
Wonderful see all your WIPs. St. Andrews is looking amazing!
Thank you. I’m so pleased with how it is going too.
Was such a fun retreat! So good to meet new people :)
Tasmanian scallop pie....awesome!!!
Fabulous I figured the loop start at the front by chance 😆 but your loop ending is brilliant
So, so fun. And meeting new flosstubers too. Loved the visit from Santa and the beautiful project bags...
Thanks Sylvia! We all know it is Santa’s helpers who do the hard work!
So great to see you both! Have a wonderful time!!❤
❤
Very clear explanation. I love loop start and have found it wonderfully neat and convenient both over the years, but I’m not really understanding why one would bother with a loop finish as you still have to anchor the end in some other way. Is there some advantage to it, maybe neatness of how the threads sit or something?
Thanks ever so much!
You’re welcome. Thank you for watching.
Oh my word yet another Needlework Press chart that I am now in love with! Can't wait to see your progress on this red beauty! <3 thanks for sharing the unboxing :D
Holy smokes this is incredible! Thank you thank you! I've just started my first *slightly* ambitious work with different colours in the same stitch and have been thinking there must be a better way! And there is! Genius. Thanks again 🎉🎉🎉
Excellent! I'm in the U.S. and I love your accent. My question is how do you dye the aida without it shrinking? I tried it one time. My cloth went from a 14 count to a 16 count! Thank you for your great video.
Oh thank you so much. Shrinkage is part of the challenge. Think of what you do to maintain shape of linen/cotton in a normal wash: water not too hot. Cool water rinse. Line dry (don’t put your fabric anywhere near that tumble dryer!!). Then iron when it is mostly dry. I had a little bit of shrinkage, but not too bad.
Brilliant video. Thank you for such a clear explanation. I will definitely use this method to help conserve thread but also help keep the back tidy. Thanks again
Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Ah such a pretty box! Thanks for the unboxing and looking forward to seeing your progress on both!
Do the pin stitches have any kind of lasting impact on the finish?
I have been stitching for over 20 years, and never thought of how to do a loop finish!! Thank you!
That was amazing. I am a visual learner. That was fantastic. Thank you thank you
Are loop starts and finishes (one strand) strong enough for items that will get a lot of stress like pillows as opposed to something hanging on the wall.
I haven’t had any come undone yet.
You have completely BLOWN my mind with that loop finish. Thank you thank you thank you! That's gonna be a game changer for my stitching in the new year :-) Happy new year!
Oh you’re so sweet. Thank you! This method totally works when stitching full coverage on evenweave. I love it.
This video is fantastic I can now do a loop finish
Thank you for the tips. It’s very useful for my next projects. ❤
I’m so glad you are finding it helpful. Good luck for your projects!
Love this. I must try it.
Hello from Wagga. Your video was excellent.
Thanks Kirsten. I’m glad it was helpful.
Why! Why? Why have I never ever seen this? This is so, so, so helpful.
Genius.
