Picked up relic hunting last year and am really enjoying the hobby. Football is my life and occupation, therefore the sport dominates the fall months for me. But when that's over and it's cold outside, my hobby is studying history and trying to dig some of it up. Golf is fun, sure, but it's hard and it makes me angry xb. Stomping around in the woods and digging holes is not that hard ... and it makes me happy.
I'm not a collector, however I find it interesting to hold something that was last touched 150+ years ago.
History, and the gaining understanding & perspective from it, is SO important. It's paramount. GL & HH

Bass don't care if the weather is wet and soggy. Temps warming up so got out to the golf course and caught a few while wearing the GoPro camera. Had a blast!

Metal Detecting - Civil War Bullets & Buttons

Enjoyed another day near a battle sight. Plenty of shallow targets, great weather, and a successful hunt. Dug several .58 three-ringers, a .69, a .57 Enfield, my first Sharps carbine bullet, a few pistol balls and a complete w/shank general service cuff button.
Metal Detecting - Odds & Ends, Learning the Blisstool

Enjoying using the Blisstool V3 this month. Still learning it, obviously. No finds of great significance in this video, but enjoyed my time out anyway. Thanks for watching.
Metal Detecting - Blisstool V3 silver & lead test, 11" & 15" coils
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.9 лет назад
The Blisstool V3 is new to me, and I to it, so these tests are a way for me to become more familiar with the machine. Thought, if I'm going to be burying and testing, why not film it. Some may not like the (seemingly) infinite adjustability of the Blisstool. I'm very intrigued by it and enjoying it so far.

Everybody has their own tools they feel comfortable with. Here's a quick look at the digging tools I'm using, plus a couple of modifications.
Metal Detecting - Quick (SIMPLE) Blisstool V3 test
Просмотров 8 тыс.9 лет назад
Just got the Blisstool V3. This was first time out burying a few targets and getting a feel for it.I think it's going to be a fun machine to use. Now, if we can just get a few days of dry weather maybe I can get out and do a some digging.

With football (mostly) over, I'm getting the detector going again. This was my first outing of the winter and I had a (minie) ball!
Metal Detecting - 1st Percussion Cap & more relics
Просмотров 71310 лет назад
One gorgeous day, two great spots, and one BIG coil. Did some more hunting with the 15" NEL Attack coil on the AT Pro and had small success. I was tickled with my first percussion cap ... a "small" treasure indeed.

Got back out with the Garrett AT Pro, and 15" NEL Attack coil, to the previously discovered confederate site and dug a few more relics. Also ran into a small timber rattler. Thanks for watching!
Metal Detecting - testing NEL 15" Attack vs Stock on Garrett AT Pro
Просмотров 31 тыс.10 лет назад
Had a chance to test the NEL Attack 15" on the AT Pro today, as it was delivered to my door yesterday. I bought for the purpose of covering lots of ground (in some spots) moreso than looking for massive depth. What I found is it is a bit heavier than the stock 8.5x11, a bit more chattery but that can be gotten around if you know what you're doing, and it does give repeatable audio signals beyon...
Metal Detecting - Found Confederate Campsite
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.10 лет назад
First trip to explore a new permission and couldn't believe my luck. Off the 4-wheeler, walk 20 feet, get a signal and it's a confederate Enfield bullet - my first ever. Found camp lead as well and pretty sure I scratched the surface of a confederate campsite. I'll definitely be going back soon!
Metal Detecting - CW Minies of all sizes (plus a little silver)

Had the good fortune of finding a first for me: the .69 caliber Minie ball. Also, several dropped or fired .58s, plus one 54. A tiny bit of silver at the end, too. Thanks for watching!

Why, do you suppose, that the VDI numbers show such a wide range as you swing the coil?

Bought a Razor back. I shortened like you said but was able to get the grip off by using a hacksaw blade to shove all the way up and loosen it.
Great Review, Thx!

You shut your damn mouth. Predator tools rock
Nice. Metal detecting is a hard, but rewarding hobby.
Got my trenching shovel at Menards for $15.00 bucks! 👍
I often find animals digs my plugs up. I hunt on my own land and have noticed small plugs are always dug back up over night. No matter how hard I stomp on it. Happy hunting!
Critters are hungry, they smell your scent and figure you buried done tasty morsels.
jUST WAIT.. THEY WON'T LET YOU PATENT YOOUR SHOVELS .. THEY DID THAT TO MY DAD WHEN HE CREATED HIS METAL HEAD GOLF CLUBS BACK IN LATE 70'S AND EARLY 80'S.. I have them Mounted and hanging on top of the Fireplace with his WWII US NAVY Picture and Medals as a CPO..Died at age 87...
Just watched this now, and loved your video! Gave you a sub too. 😁 I have been struggling with finding a decent, inexpensive digging shovel for metal detdetecting cting in the bush and fields etc. I watched The Chigg’s videos, and also had him show me his shovel in person recently when he was here at our house. I have yet been able to find it locally. Bummer. I would really like one of those black ones like the one that you indicated that you liked. Aquachigger let me interview him, it was a great visit. Check out my channel if you would like.
I've got one of these. I've only used it one time at a site I hunted out with my atpro. It did manage to tug one large cent buried in the iron that I had missed, which is impressive. Sadly I mostly water hunt now so it rarely gets used at all.
Great review, just what I needed. We don't have those stores here in the UK but at least I know what to look for now. It's just finding something of a good strong quality, that isn't too heavy.
dah .... never thought of cutting the extra length! thanks. I too use an entrenching tool! Mine is more like the first you had that is hard to get your foot on so I use one side but it eventually the corner of it eats a hole into my shoe!! I will be looking for a new one like the one you have and customizing the blade and handle! Again thank you!
Nice but freshly buried targets won't respond the same as true targets in the wild. But that attack coil is nice and deeper, I find vdi numbers off with it vs stock coil though.
Awesome info , thanks !!!!!
Good coil. Excellent test.
I need to aquire that coil you have for my Garrett 250. today I found confederate cuff button . I also found a boot spur
Would you sell me your Sampson Pleeeeeze 🙏🏼🤜🏻✨🤛🏻
Rings may have come off a single tree or double tree team hitch for a wagon.
Horse Shoe nails are always square! Great videos! Thanks.
Great video with excellent reasoning. Check out my vid on new hand digging tool. Greetings, GL & HH.
Matt this is so cool!!! Good job! Where do you explore?
good info !!
Nice saves.
That steel band could it be off a the head of a hardwood sledgehammer?
Might be from a wagon whell as well
I just want to add my 2 cen ts here. I have a CORS Fire coil on my AT Pro and a similar setup to yours. I use a sling also that is available on Amazon. My performance is amazing! I primarily beach hunt and yesterday saw a doubling of my finds in about 2/3 the time. I would say the coil takes somegetting used too, but within the first hour I had it pretty well fogured out. The only thing I had any problems with was pinpointing and that I found seemedto be more me than the coil. I highly recommend this coil for those of you with decent arm and shoulder strength for it is heavy. BUY IT. Either as a NEL or CORS Fire it seems to be a great coil.
Enjoyed that info, thanks. I used a drain spade at BellSouth for work, hated it. I've been looking all over for a serrated-blade Sampson like your blue one you dislike because where I live, we have Bermuda grass and subsurface tree roots that are a pain to dig through! Even sharpened-edge shovels don't cut through on the first cut most of the time.
What is the point in making holes and test if you are not going to fill them back ? This video is an air test with detector in normal using position only :) HH
what is the point of commenting on a video without watching the video?
Great video Matt, very informative. Do you lose any of the ability of picking up good targets next to junk? which is what I like most about the AT Pro
