I just had this happen to me, and it looks like it's the same problem that Dwayne had -- threads in the locking knob appear to be stripped. I had just cleaned the filter and re-inserted it, then put the filter top on and tightened down the locking knob. It felt secure, and everything was fine when i turned on the pump; pump ran for 3 hours ok and then shut off (it's on a timer). About 8 hours later when the pump came back on, apparently the knob let go. I came home to find that half the pool had drained. When I recreated the scenario, sure enough, the top half of the filter housing separated from the bottom half (by about an inch) and water just gushed out evenly out of the filter. One note -- If you go to buy a replacement for the locking knob, there are two variants of it: One has a short barrel, and the other has a longer barrel. My C1750 filter needs the longer barrel, which is apparently hard to find. Make sure you know which one you need. In the video, Dwayne has the long barrel variant.

How did you break the bolts loose and is there a metal plate inside the tank that the screws go into?

i think you should have discharged the unit- even if yo unplug there could be power built up in the capacitor

Looks like your lead flashing was installed incorrectly. The flashing should be exposed at the bottom to aid in water run-off.

I have three wires pink sending unit wire, green and a black one. so how do I set this up

I have the most annoying squeaking noise which occurs every 1:1 wheel revolution but on a 1991 Dodge Ram D150. It may be a coincidence, but it started right after I got my bed Line-X'd. I noticed the constant squeaking as soon as I drove it off the lot. In the meantime, I was told by Kwik Kar to spray penetrating oil on the rear springs, etc but no luck. They also suggested to me that the rear end/axle might be the issue. Any suggestions? If not, I guess that I will just take it to my local Dodge dealership. Thanks!

Dwayne, thank you for the great level of detail, in both your commentary and use of the camera. I have not yet done the repair but I am sure you just saved me some 400 dollars. Mine is a different GE model, stainless steel, with unique dimensions that would be hard to replace, but it works exactly the same.

I changed the door switch on my ge microwave but the microwave still blows out my circuit breaker. Also the fan motor runs when the door is open. What do I do next?tks

Good video. While the note by your daughter inside is cute, it also shines light on the fact of the absolute JUNK that is being made these days. Consumers shouldn't need to fix expensive products in such short time and so often. Shame. Our LG ( $250) has the same issue (running when opening the door) and it is less than 1 1/2 years old. My daughter does the notes (and mini time capsule) thing too when I do remodel projects. The next house owner is gonna find a hodge-podge of "treasures" around here. LOL.

did you said that you cut it in half and had another other half?

yes, you can just touch those two wires together at the sending unit and the gauge should go to full. most likely the ignition switch needs to be in the Run position

I am needing to do this same job...When you jump the wires it didn't look like you touched them together directly as they were still bolted down. Did you use some tool to jump the wire?

Wow, you had a lot of unforeseen problems along the way, just like I always seem to have when I'm doing repairs myself. That's what makes this video such a learning experience! ;-) I have a Panasonic microwave that comes on while I open the door. Fortunately, mine is sitting in a cabinet and I can take it out without a lot of hassle. Thanks. I'll let you know what happens after I try fixing it.

Dwayne, nicely done. Mine case was stuck too and I thought there was something I was missing. Unfortunately for me, I got inside and one of the hard plastic door actuators that presses one of the micro switches was broke. But your video was helpful
